I was thinking why all the RE folks are still hanging around working, when they could retire and do other things? I thought about this and came up with the following reasons - let me know if I’ve missed any
A. Working is the actually the most interesting thing they can do at this point
B. Money, just more of it
E. They like punishment
@OP They need the money and the benefits. It’s not complicated.
Anybody who is retirement age and claims to “enjoy working” is lying through their teeth. Nobody enjoys presenting themselves at a designated location and doing what someone else tells them when they get there. It’s not how people are wired.

RE here, I just like coming in amd looking at all the poor miserable twats in their 20,30 and 40s. knowing most of them won’t survive and not see the pension.

OP...I'm with you. If you can retire why keep taking the abuse? I have 3 years more before I become RE. I won't need to make any more $$, but more importantly, I've got better things to do than PowerPoint and Managing Upward for the chosen few. That being said, I know of a few folks that will hang on to the bitter end, why I don't know but they probably can't see themselves doing anything but coming in Mon-Fri. Me.. I rather watch the grass grow.
