Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

This takes the cake

TR leadership has done a lot of stupid things but my favorite remains getting rid of some of our best people and then having to hire two and in some cases even three people to do their work. Even at their higher rate of pay, by the time they're properly replaced, the company is paying more to have the same work done. Id--ts.

My function has such low morale. Last week I had a standing meeting where fully half the team had quit :/

They will stay on track with their vision to chip away at high cost areas regardless of expertise. I don’t see the top leaders remaining for more than 5 years once they complete their mission and collect their money. The focus now is to also drive out people at the high cost areas so they don’t have to pay severance.

Anyone else tempted to lawyer up? Getting concerned that leadership is bracing to target certain groups for firing

@hii+1hArUf7b if management want to get rid of single points of failure, then they need to start with themselves first. A bloated management who are paid big bucks to do the only thing they know "to grow" the company - cut costs. The number of highly productive and knowledgeable people driven away from this company doesn't make any sense!

@hii+1hArUf7b We need to take the “Couch” from senior executives and burn it like a party at Cedar Apartments at Michigan State.

How very true. The senior executives I know always couch this as getting rid of single points of failure. But when they get rid of or drive away the folks with expertise, they instead make the entire team dysfunctional.
