@hns While I’m also guilty of knocking out some household chores during the day I also work way more than 40 hours. Taking 10 minutes to unload/load the dishwasher is not putting a dent in that.

Why work in the office? It is a ghost town the few times I had to go in.

How has it changed in the past 6 months?

@kxl+1hStBnGv: Bill Ford owns an investment company. That will be his future.

@deu+1hStBnGv you are delusional if you think FoMoCo employees will work at the train station. To date 506 million of taxpayer money has flowed to the train station project. That is in addition to all the money diverted from FoMoCo to the project. You did notice that there is no Ford signage on the building right? Bill has other plans for the building. The Dearborn campus has ample room for FoMoCo employees that FoMoCo intends to employ. To quote one of the investigative journalist’s on the Train Station scam “Liar Liar Ford’s on Fire”

I support testing on 2 shifts 5 days a week on often 1 shift on weekends. WFH allows me to cover all of these. I keep track of my time and make sure the job gets done. Boss wanted me in the office but would not give me an office space and I refused to work in my test car, test lab or at some shared open desk space. Often my supported testing gets delayed or canceled so being on call is better for everyone. I thought about hanging around a couple more years maybe TWA but this place has really changed in the last 6 months. Time to retire and sit on the sidelines and watch Ford Blue battle it out with Model E. My prediction is this EV thing will level off once they hype and actual cost are realized.

Work from home staff will soon be work for hire in India. Sitting at home pretending to work on useless video calls. What an entitled Era! This cannot go on... finish the train station and bring them all back to reality!

As others have pointed out, just because yo are sitting in an office, doesn't mean you are working. I've noticed the the people crying the loudest to go back are the same that spent their days doing everything but working. Since they can no longer stroll around the office smoozing, their careers have hit the wall because they have nothing to produce. The people that always worked hard and were producing are finally getting noticed and promoted.

90% of work was done sitting in a cubicle before WFH for most. So what's the difference?

Collaboration is a fallacy. Your work is yours alone for the most part...maybe 5%. If you spend half of your time "collaborating", nothing gets done.

You will be targeted. WTF will be outsourced, WFH can be done anywhere.

The hate is based purely on jealousy. The only people that have any rights to judge those that are working from home are their supervisors and managers. The fact of the matter is that plants and offices all around the country are full of people that work as little at possible right in front of everyone.

WFH will be targeted plain and simple. WFH can and will be done anywhere. EV or ICE.

@loc+1hStBnGv People like you are the ones that need to be let go in the upcoming 8,000 reduction. Trying to get you “staffers” off your a$$ to support your plant operations is ridiculous. The plant hourly and salary personnel have been having to come into work the last two years while you guys sit at home only wanting to do WebEx and not willing to come to the plant to do your responsibilities. You need to come to your plants to do your job. When you are eliminated we won’t miss a beat. I am salary and not UAW!

News flash-hot off the presses. You didn't when you were "tied" to a desk either. A lot of people routinely left early, surfed the internet, talked at the water cooler, etc. I don't know how many times I would walk by a desk asking, "Where's so and so?" "I don't know but must be in a meeting." For a week straight?

People just did it in different ways... Either you're part of the most productive, busiest 20% or you're not.

NOBODY spent their entire workday doing company work when they were in the office either.

Because we all know NOBODY spends their entire workday doing company work. We all have done yard work, laundry, errands, etc. I will admit I like WFH because I can do my personal work during the weekdays and have weekends work free. Truth hurts.
