Keep this mantra in the back of your mind in the coming weeks. If an opportunity presents itself do not be hesitant to seize it. Make sure that you are always looking out for yourself as the companies are not.

@hqs+1njUxCkl The main benefit is trying to avoid burning bridges, just in case you're coming back later on. Very few employees use that time for a proper handover, and even fewer managers care about it.
I never understood the 2week notice.
What benefit do you get from giving 2weeks other than saying bye to friends
FWIW I learned that lesson back in the early 1980s. Problem is that it's easy to forget after you've been in some place for 5 or even 10+ years
The contract people that gave 2 week notice, were told to leave that same day...

don't think i'll give a two-week notice when i leave. they don't have the mutual respect of a two-week notice on their end.
