Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

All long-time employees should aggressively look for other options

Speaking as someone who worked a long time here, I want to advise my remaining long-time colleagues to hit the job market and search for other options on the job market.
Don’t get me wrong, this is not a “I found another job and am doing better now” post. In fact, at my new job in some segments its the same sh-t, in some it is better, but at least I am not constantly afraid of layoffs and being replaced by someone younger and cheaper.
The company made it their agenda to get rid of the long experienced employees, replacing them with younger inexperienced people for only a fraction of the price. Good work doesn’t count, experience and knowledge doesn't coin either. The sooner we accept that fact it will be better for us.
The argument that no one can replace knowledge, devotion, and experience stands, but they simply don’t care. The younger person that they hire will not do a good job as experienced employee but he will do a “good enough job” by their standards. I suggest that nobody waits for things to change for the better because they won’t.

Anyone who posts here that the 1.2 in 22 Bonus isn’t real is either A.) NOT a CVE employee B.) is a union employee or C.) is a contractor.
It’s real and it’s well deserved by all those who earned it!!!

Some people are bu-t hurt because they couldn’t cut it. Meanwhile I’m cruising to retirement and don’t know what to do with all of the money they are throwing my way.

They don’t care about employees. Cheaper the better. Lay them off and outsource to India where possible

A package is the best way out!! Although I have heard the packages have been reduced greatly in the last six months.. Get out while you can!! Health and quality of life is most important!!

Anyone who posts anonymously that they received 1.2 in compensation, did not in fact receive said compensation. LOL.

I am of the opinion that if you are long tenured and put in your time, you are entitled to compensation in the form of a layoff package. Unless it is affecting your health, wait it out to get a package. Don't let these pr1cks off the hook.
