Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

It was a bloodbath for my old group today!

I'm recently retired (used to work in what was called "nike.net"), but I found out that most of my old managers were let go, some really good people including some of the best managers I've ever had.

Today was management's turn, the rumor from the worker bees is that their turn will come tomorrow.

I did hear the severance was pretty generous, including 6 months of paid COBRA and 2 months of payroll (WARN requirement) in addition to the severance.

So funny we are in this mess because they let go of a ton of talent and we are trying to solve it by letting go a ton of talent

@hwm 100%. It was said in another thread here, the ineptitude and disrespect revealed by how this has gone down is astounding.

No one with a clear mind will be able to look at this executive and senior team the same again for as long as they're present. Damage like this has permanence.

The WARN dodge just cracks me up so hard.

I know you’re cheap. It’s why you’re doing layoffs right now. So why are you giving all the Covid & Kohls hires with no seniority so much severance? (And lifers so little)

It’s already been 2 months since your Christmas gift warning us of layoffs!

You could have just followed the spirit of the law, made your Christmas announcement official news, not tried your consultant friends’ “clever” tricks, and saved money in the process!

…but I think I know the answer. You have no plan. Lists get adjusted up until the hour before meetings get scheduled. Hard to give WARNing when you have no idea what you’re actually going to do.
