I am of course sympathetic to the individuals affected, but part of me can’t help experiencing a sense of “here is your turn to be hit by the karma bus” as many of these HR people now laid off undoubtedly were the ones laying off other WFC staff as part of their work responsibilities.

They are laying off remote employees. In waves. Many in this wave were HR and training, but not all. I and many other remote employees in tech were displaced, as well. The common thread is remote.
Displacements were not just recruiting. It consisted of HR including learning and development and employee Relations. I even know someone in displacements that was displaced. Smh. 317 employees were displaced on 8/8 all in HR.
If we were getting real facts from our ‘transparent’ leadership (aka disconnected millionaire elite vultures), we wouldn’t need to come here.
All HR employees in non HR Hub locations will be laid off within the next 18 months. Many recruiters were first. More to come— and NO the displacement team is NOT outsourced. Definitely not a facts based site!
@igj - I totally agree. I'm also 'liberal' but any sensible candidate that would platform a reduction offshoring of US jobs would have my vote. I hate it with a passion, especially the execs that employ that kind of labor arbitrage.
I think the people laid off are recruiters. As far as I know, they're not laying off people. They're hiring people.
I'm not in HR so I'm not trying to defend them but, HR doesn't make hire or fire decisions they just execute on orders.
most of the people in HR let go are recruiters. state side hiring has stopped but all India hiring has ramped up. no need to keep state side support if the jobs are headed to the other side of the world. they are hiring 2 people for less than 1 stateside person but in 25 they will end up letting 1 of them go, this is Chucky 2025 reduction idea. reduce salary and headcount. hate to say it, bc i’m as liberal as they come but any presidential candidate willing to block outside country employment I may consider a vote for…
With all the recruiters being let go it’s just a matter of time before there are more stories like the one in the New York Times about fake interviews.
The displacement team is out sourced.
I really doubt there's been any downsizing in the displacement team. Not yet anyway, but their time will come.
