Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Wake up before it’s too late (it’s already too late)

I've been screaming into the void, calling for unity, for us to band together against the impending doom, but my cries fell on deaf ears. Now, the prophecy is unfolding - layoffs are looming over us like a dark cloud ready to burst!

I warned you all. I talked about the unusual patterns in management behavior, the cryptic budget adjustments, and those eerie, secretive meetings. But did anyone listen? No! Instead, I was met with dismissive chuckles and eye rolls.

Well, now the chickens have come home to roost. We could have been a fortress, unbreakable in our unity, but instead, we're like a house of cards, trembling at the slightest breeze of adversity. The signs were all there, as clear as day, but you chose to remain blissfully ignorant.

But it's not just about "I told you so." It's about survival now. So, wake up! Start preparing for the worst. Update your resumes, network like your life depends on it (because it just might), and maybe, just maybe, we can still turn this ship around before it hits the iceberg.

Remember, we could've been in this together from the start, but better late than never. I’m fked. You’re fked. We all F**ked!

Couple things to add:

  1. Media, if it’s larger than local, want to be able to quantify and substantiate metrics. They also want to maintain a good relationship with Nike.

2: unless YOU want to be pigeonholed into a job don’t knock someone’s background and ability to have diverse experiences just because it’s not identical your own. Ask yourself what you might learn from this person.

  1. LuLu and adi (which you spelled incorrectly) pay half of what Nike does. Think bigger.

FYI: I was laid off and I’m looking at it as an opportunity. This isn’t the end of the world and all of it is a chance to learn and grow.

Please don’t look at this as a prophecy… i was at nike from 2009 to 2022… and went through 3x re-orgs… the last straw being CDA. Its almost become part of their DNA. Anyone who wants to work there should know this is part of the cyclical nature of nike now. This is 4 reorgs in 13 years.

@kwc+1pW4KHdR Agree with you on innovation but seriously made the wrong moves. Some of the people they cut were the ONLY ones moving the needle and pushing us to be better. Now we are left with a sea of sameness. How can we innovate if we can’t embrace anything but status quo ?

Are you.. ok? Sounds like you’re taking this more personally than the rest of us. Most of us saw this coming, but your posts scream god-complex, and quite frankly are insensitive, condescending and off putting. So no, we didn’t care to “unite” with you because you’re trying to create an angry army, not community.

@kwc+1pW4KHdR Agree! Well said! Who would believe that the Sr Dir of innovation is a person with HR background?????? Like all other technical folks dies and she became the director of innovation??!

Innovation deserves to be hard reset. It’s a bloated org that’s been walled off and protected by gate keepers. I’ve seen HR we-ponized in this org and used as a tool by leaders to oust anyone that ruffles feathers. When you can’t tell your friends from your enemies it’s time to go!!

It’s a re-org in corporate America during a recession. It’s my third CDA and yes you can smell them a mile away. Life goes on, it happens. Corporate America is not the end all be all.

@rns+1pW4KHdR You’re a sheep just like the rest. That’s why you’re on this forum looking answers. Searching for meaning. Praying for good news. Find god in your exit email.

Why is everyone on this board so dramatic lol. Yes layoffs su-k but you’ll be fine. Severance + unemployment checks will get you through (and hopefully you have an emergency savings as backup).

There will always be other jobs.

@OP+1pW4KHdR. Could've, should've, would've.

Yawn.

Self-serving, zero-value-added post.
