Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

New Comp and Benefit plan

Well, they have done it. Let’s see how Laura Nichol is going to put lipstick on this pig.

Let’s watch as she smiles that Botox face and says “instead of pay increases, you’re going to get more RSUs. Yey!”

What this really means is they are pushing out raises and spreading them out over 3 years. This also means that they can lay that group off (like they did 2 years ago) and not have to pay out that “raise”.

I call bullsh-t. People are already struggling due to inflation, so now Crown is going to hold our raises up as corporate welfare.

I don’t give a f*** about gym memberships or pet insurance, but you are now messing with our pay and the contribution to the HSA.

Let’s see what they do to PTO rollover. I already can’t use my PTO because I can’t get anyone to cover for me. We call it Pretend Time Off because our managers, directors, and VPs still expect me to be at their beck and call during PTO, nights, and weekends. I’ve had leaders call me late evenings asking for some BS cr-p that can wait until morning.

The EMT is going to pretend that they are being hurt by this change as well and we should all be in this together. Right? Well, the rest of us don’t have the contracts that they do that continue to pay them out for years to come.

In other news the stock rose 8% this week from its 52 week low. Will this gain sustain? I think so. I have faith in Crown, the decisions made and the actions taken so far.

Did you hear on the call that they vest after a year?

I swear the confidently incorrect people on here are mind numbing.

As Laura always says (like a broken record), Crown is constantly looking at the competition to create the most robust benefits package available. She should consider stand-up, if she has any time between. her consulting business and 👑

Apparently Wall Street likes the changes because the stock rose to 128 after starting the week off at 122. The only other thing crown can do to make it jump even higher is to announce layoffs and restructuring.

The post you are responding to was asking about the post from “zhh”.

From what I heard if you don’t yet know what happened then you have no business asking about it.

@pxc+1jnKxC2V, there really isn’t anything to report. None of the changes were really earth shattering. The only people up in arms are the people on this site.

That's the standard RSU, not the RSU in lieu of a raise. Two different things. You'll receive a large amount that vests over three years and a small amount that vests in one.

Try to keep up and don't accuse people of lying when you're wrong.

@1jbl+1jnKxC2V, don’t lie. RSU don’t fully vest until after 3 years. The first year only vest 33%. That’s a far cry from fully vesting.

@kgo+1jnKxC

This is the most accurate thing I've seen here

@izx+1jnKxC2V

I'm not okay with the new plan but don't lie about it. They RSUs vest after a year, not three. If you have a real argument let the facts speak for you, not lies.

I never used the pet insurance or gum benefit so I don’t care about that.

I got a 2 percent raise last year and I never expected to get anymore than that for this year so I don’t care much about the raise. I don’t get RSUs so if they are adding to your normal RSU payout to compensate for lost raises, lucky you.

I used the HSA match but I’m planning on charging an extra 20 hours of overtime that I really won’t work to make up for the lost HSA match.

I’m so over being micromanaged by a supervisor who couldn’t manage his way out of a wet paper bag, I don’t give a cr-p what the EMT thinks or does. I’ll do the bare minimum and charge I worked OT for any shortfalls that come about from these benefit changes.

Thanks to everyone for sacrificing your raises, bonuses and benefits so we can continue to fund and grow our digital transformation and business process teams.

Because of your reduced compensation and benefits, we will have teams who know nothing about telecom infrastructure but at the same time they’re great at telling you how yo do your job.

Thanks all!

Wow “ rxp+1jnKxC2V” so anyone who is in a slightly higher pay bracket than you and has been working for 20+ years to get there doesn’t do any work? Ok. I get it. Wait until they come for you next.

Crown is going to save a ton of money by reducing raises and short term incentives and replacing it with long term incentives that don’t fully vest for 3 years. We had a team call today and our VP showed up out of nowhere. We talked about this subject and also layoffs. He said that there are no plans for layoffs at all for our district in 2022 and hopefully the new compensation plan will improve free cash flow so we can avoid layoffs in the future. He went on to say that Crown isn’t in a financial crises but the debt load is high and investors are afraid of it. We need to pay down debt and we need to closely watch the spending plans for our customers since there are grumbling that the big 3 carriers and Dish are quietly reducing their capital spending for 2023.

Crown is apparently now allowing nudity on internal calls to distract employee's from realizing benefits are being downsized! WTF

@OP, since you’re complaining about the RSU, I assume you’re a M1 or above. If that is true, you’re probably already overpaid and underworked. You won’t get much sympathy from us lowly T4s and below.

I use the savings account match to maintain a medical device. Money is already tight with inflation. This is a real bummer.

With the stock price where it is, those RSU aren’t going to mean anything. Do I care? Nope. P-e ons like me never got them to begin with.

Crown doesn’t have any leaders, only managers.

7 habits of highly effective people is the book. Management without leadership is like organizing the chairs on the titanic as it sinks. Welcome to Crown.

They are managers because they are reactive (in their best case scenario, otherwise they are just doing nothing) and not proactive.

With the stock price where it's at right now, I'll take RSUs over a cash bonus all day.
