Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

I was not layoff but my PERM will be affected

Its one of the worst day of life. I was not layoff but my perm will be affected, my maxout date is Sep 2025, and now I am not sure I will have any chance.

Been through the same situation during the last layoff at Nike. It paused for 9 months and I had a tough time getting it filed with my h1 max out less than 18 months when it was paused. Start moving to a different employer and initiate the perm to be on the safer side.

Material change to role and Perm needs to be re-done. Reach out to immigration liaison at Nike and the law firm. Speak to your attorney and figure out next steps.

To @jmm+1raDuYTv PERM is one of the intermediate steps of the Green Card application process that employers have to file. Without PERM, employer can’t file Form I-140, and without that, H-1B / I-797 Work Authorization permit can’t be renewed beyond the initial 6 years or calculated max out date.

OP, Sept 2025 is quite far away. However, it’s still an awful and tricky situation to be in. If it doesn’t start moving in the next 3-4 months, find another employer or fast moving startup that can start your GC process on Day 1 of joining.
