PIP Extension?

I’ve heard from a few others and on this site that a PIP extension was possible? The rumor is that it can revert to the old PIP of 6 months instead of the current 3 month program. Anyone else hearing this?

If someone gets a PIP extension please post it here so we know. I doubt it is possible.

If they extend my PIP by 3 more months I’m out. So far I’ve received neutral to slightly positive indicators that my PIP is going ok.

If they extended it 3 months I’ll just use that time to start looking for something else but at least I’ll have healthcare and a paycheck. If they gave me the option of a 3 month PIL at that time I’d take it as well.

There won’t be any extensions. They need to clear out this crop of PIPee’s to make room on the HR and Law Dept schedules for the next round. I am most interested in hearing if anyone really thinks passing the PIP is possible, or if managers have been instructed that none shall pass

In normal times, they have extended PIP’s to run for as much as a year. However, the belief is that this time the PIP is just a tool to fire people and say that it’s their fault (poor performance) with the objective of getting everyone off the payroll by Nov 1.

With United Way Auction currently being touted, there should be a “Get out of PIP free” bid!!!

I know, too soon, right?

Because of coronavirus, government was waiving the tax burdon from firing employees.

Yes, the best time to fire employees is right before the holidays. I've seen this in the past (2000, 2009, 2015) and XOM typically wants to use holidays for firing. The pandemic was a good one. I guarantee you, before the end of year ... bloodbath.

PIP = fired. The performance thing is to just avoid calling it a lay-off for ego reasons as they just said no lay offs at the shareholder meeting and there are unemployment tax and regulatory notification advantages to the Corp. Anyone on a PIP should be spending all your energy finding a new job.

If your manager has a decent bone in his body he would be honest with you. However your manager is the one that put you there so how much do you trust this person?

All that are currently PIP'd WILL be gone by Nov 1. No extensions, no beating the PIP. There is zero hope for continuing employment.

Haven't heard that on mine. The goal is to get all this round out by Nov.1. No matter if it's resigning, retiring, firing, or PIP'd.... off the books by Nov. 1 to get ready for round 2.
