Verizon (VZ) to disband, eliminate, the entirety (95%+) of Information Technology by the end of November 2023

Verizon's strategic plan to disband all of IT, outsource within the US and/or offshore to India. This strategy will reduce the VZ employee headcount by another 5,000 people.

IT downfall began with Lowell and his Wireless mob who thought they were the smartest people in the room. They moved Ajay over to wireline and the IT team changed overnight. Ajay's MO was to replace each IT executive position (Director, Exec Director, VP, SVP) with 3 of his friends. Ajay was good at herding his bloated IT organization of friends and family. Ajay also implemented the Agile methodology, but rather than start small his downfall was wasting million of dollars trying to build the Taj Mahal right out of the gate. Hans and his hired consultants (a consultant company that was involved in it's own scandal in the pharma industry) turned IT into just another commodity, outsourcing to offshore, rebadging to IBM and Infosys, RIFs etc. I'm afraid it's just a question of time before Hans outsources what's left of IT to an offshore company.

Verizon’s new name is Vindia Wireless. Nepotism has taken over this company…

This is no surprise since all the same consultants go company to company promising savings and using the last company they sold the idea of offshoring as the fix to the wage issues companies face. Verizon willing to spend millions on consultants but will not pay for experience stateside.

LOL! The last company I worked for tried this and the end of 2021 and are now trying to bring things back in house. It only took a couple of tech related meltdowns and a restatement of financials to change C-suite's tune.

Certainly would not put it past Verizon to do this......They are struggling.Verizon's wireless platform is NOT the best anymore. TM is kicking their A$$ Their 5G works much better too. Leveling the network security so India can do more of what is done in the US is the tell.....

All hearsay or fear monger if. Until OP actually lists sources etc it's hearsay. VCG and VBG took big enough hits that the rest of the company was able to survive on a life float.

I don't doubt this one bit. Timing may not be accurate, but it will happen.

The issue is the amalgamation with GTE that ruined the state of the IT enshrined within the Bell Atlantic Corporation due to Ivan G. Seidenberg conceding to Charles (Chuck) Lee. Mr. Lee, RIP, wrangled where the IT CIO to be the GTE's ushering all the collections Asian-Indians and its facial wearing male counterparts from the neighboring middle-eastern countries.

I highly doubt that Shankar would dismantle GTS. The transferring everything to India narrative is not realistic. I don't doubt there will be more cuts before EOY. But the narrative of 95% of GTS will be let go Is bogus.

This is why IT has been as bad as it has been for as long as it has. The Great South Asian Scam. Companies spent the 80s and 90s pushing students to study IT and computer systems, which they did, only to be laid off and replaced by lesser talents for lesser money.

Americans are catching on and pushing back as they should. None of the senior executives above the director level have any idea how to increase market share or top-line growth in the USA. The only thing that they are good at is laying off good people and replacing them with lesser valued workers.

Not surprised, am familiar with an insurance company doing the same thing. They outsources all of the IT org and sold all employees to that company. Verizon only went halfway, I expected for it to eventually be most if not all. Was never a good place to work, GTS management believes in putting their thumb down hard on their people.
