Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

When can we expect the culling to start?

Before the end of the month? Next month? Does anybody know?

5/24 after the future status of Network is announced. Support teams/projects have been reviewed and decisions will be made. If your team does not add $$, reduce effort of others or is on long term transformative projects you may be impacted sooner than others.

As some else noted the folks running the business day to day will be impacted less.

There won't be any layoffs. When they sell fiber, everyone who position related to fiber, you go with the sale as well. So not only does crown make 15b, they cut thier salary payments by half. That 15b will pay debt and guarantee get crown into the south American market. You will be cut by the new company, they already have someone who does your job, they just want the assets...

In my opinion, at one point Crown thought they were too big to fail. They thought that their system for success was unbreakable so it didn’t matter who they hired. It didn’t matter if people were the best candidate as long as they were represented. It’s obviously bad business but it’s certainly not the reason the company is doing so poor today.

I must agree with the DEI people. I was in a group that received complaints that not enough females were represented, displayed in one of the surveys. During this period, I was promised a position by the director. After the comments were made, I was not given the position, but instead, was put under a lady manager with literally no experience. I was then laid off, and she is still there, meaning if I would have been given the position that was promised, the stress from the job search would not have existed. Yes, I fell victim to DEI. This decision can from above the director, as he apologized after. The good thing is that I found a better paying position and work with professionals who support each other.

@ 4hyy+1s7PX5fC great thats for investors. The claim that leadership is shoving it down our throught on weekly call is BS that's your feelings.. The issues with Crown has nothing to do with DE&I. How about a poor business model, borrowing money to pay a dividend, nepotism, funneling money to contractors, sending sales to a feel good trip while we have 150M$ short fall.. I'll quote JZ Theres 99 problems and DE&I isnt one them

I’m not for or against the DEI hiring but what this person is saying is true. I’ve been on the calls myself. That doesn’t necessarily mean they are hiring unqualified people. They have taken it upon themselves to start programs like “ women in construction” that may better prepare women for certain types of roles. Can the calls be used for more impactful topics? Absolutely. In my opinion the lack of real topics have turned a majority of the employees away from the calls. I’m certain you can find the recorded calls somewhere to watch if you are so inclined.

@ 4bzw+1s7PX5fC what's the percentage ? If leadership is constantly reporting it you must know it then. FYI there is no quota on hiring minorities the the lie

Keep hiring incompetent individuals regardless of gender and see your top talent walk out in drodes all in the name of meeting some BS goal dictated by the few. You can't fix stupid and ignorance. CC lost it luster many years ago and it will take a lifetime to repair the damage done by falling for the nonsense line of corporate America.

It’s kind of funny that some of the incels here are blaming I & D. These people complaining are bottom 10% for sure.

@4ydi+1s7PX5fC That is 100% a lie. They constantly go over the percentage of women compared to men and openly state they need to get the numbers of women higher. They’ve also had parts of the meeting strictly dedicated to encouraging employees to use pronouns in their signatures. Fiber is a nightmare, small cell constantly misses its goals but hey, let’s get together and talk about what pronouns to use! Don’t take my word for it, I encourage everyone to ask around and find the truth.

@4yfd+1s7PX5fC fun fact they never compared the number of men to women and never openly stated to use pronouns. Did people share stories of thier experiences that are obviously different than yours durning the employee spot light segment, yes. Sorry that offends you but grow up

@4skn+1s7PX5fC Fun fact for you. During the weekly fiber/small cell call they constantly go over the number of woman on the construction business compared to men and talk about how to get the number higher. I’m not saying that there are not capable woman, I’m saying they are going out of their way to check boxes and not worried about the most qualified candidate. On top of that they also jam things down your throat on the call such as encouraging you to use pronouns in your email signature. Quit with the DEI bullsh-t and hire the most qualified employee always.

@ 3omx+1s7PX5fC I guess you missed that part when the new CEO said on earnings call that everything is on the table including a sale of the fiber business.. don't kid yourself something already in the works

@ 3pcw+1s7PX5fC DE&I is not affirmation action. DE&I is all inclusive and increases the pool. Nepotism and hiring your buddies is the problem. How about some standards we have directors with no formal education who can't read a balance sheet and people leading engineers who don't understand basic networking and a lady Maine who knows how to speak but has no clue whats she's saying but somehow thier the experts. The problem with Crown has nothing to do with DE&I thats just a boogie man to blame your own insecurities on

It can’t be that much time between selecting a new CEO and announcing the actual plan of our business’. They already stated everything is on the table. So that part is anlready don’t. And like every other merger, sale or acquisition, it’s a hush hush until they have all their docs and regulatory filings in order. If the new CEO already sold this business once, why on earth can’t he do it again, and for the same buyers from before minus CCI… Why make JB retire if there wasn’t gonna be a big showdown on changes with our business models… EMT did its best to combine SCN and Fiber together making it a bundle to the carriers so it can’t compete with CCI competitors… But our competitors doubled down on towers and call centers where we took a riskier path…All the back and forth with the Crown three businesses did nothing. It was a a good attempt, but as the carriers eat their own words, and TMO shooting the industry in the foot keeping things ‘cheap’ for the consumer without asking luxury prices for 5G service and 5G devices, while we wait for the next big thing in wireless…economy is broke, inflation, interest rates…oh, and in getting back on track, of course we RIF again before a sale…isn’t that the norm? What companies haven’t done RIFs with the similar path we are currently on?

DEI definitely has something to do with the hiring of unqualified employees… You get poor results anytime you narrow your search.

Crown will never get rid of fiber. They’ll bring in a PE partner to help run it but they’ll never admit they made a mistake and sell the fiber.

Sell the tower side, it's nothing more than real estate. Running on minimal people that aren't doing too much. Keep the fiber side and hire fiber people.

@2uee+1s7PX5fC Hiring of quality people went to sh-t when Crown started focusing on hiring for inclusivity and diversity instead of bringing people in that actually knew the job.

I’m not sure when it is going to happen. However I am sure that this company is filled with immature people. It is mostly the hires in the last couple of years. There used to be standards for Crown employees but it went down hill after the acquisition of Lightower/Fibertech. I’m not looking forward to another RIF but I’d certainly be okay with a few immature, good for nothing employees to hit the unemployment line and find out what it’s like to actually work.

I’m going to guess mid July… there are a number of factors that are still up in the air that will impact this. When do we sell fiber? And how much are we selling it for? Did we get lowballed or did we get enough to right the ship? What is the plan after that? Our competitors have bought assets in different countries, is that an option now that fiber is gone? I bet we hear of a fiber sale sooner rather than later. Stay tuned.
