I used to think people who said they couldn't wait to be laid off were either trolls or not very smart. It took me a while, but I get it now. I didn't want to accept some things before, but now I do. I realized how much time I'm spending working versus what I'm paid for, how much I have to take from a manager who thinks fear is a legitimate management technique, how rarely my work is recognized, how I have to take pills to deal with work-related anxiety, and so many other things. I now realize that being laid off and having to stress over being unemployed for a while would still be better than dealing with all of that all the time. I get it.

if work is causing you so much distress then do something about it. At minimum go out on medical leave of absence
Work a little smarter, sometimes a little harder, and keep your eye on possible jobs. Good luck.
I understand and hang in there. Most of us have enjoyed our positions overtime. The environment has become so toxic that we all wish for severance. For any upper management reading this post, we will stay until we get our severance. Please let us go…
@jvs is in the 20% who think just showing up to lay a bunch of people off and not resolve the actual operating issues is worth $20M+ a year.
Maybe your manager probably cannot wait for you to quit? Maybe you are not good at your job, maybe you want responsibility but not accountability? Then when you fail it is your manager's fault or the environment or anyone other than you. It goes both ways, but agree this place in general legit stinks but grass is not greener at all. If you are one of the good people trapped with bad management where they take credit for your work or ideas, then I have sympathy for sure. If you are in the 80% that think barely showing up is enough for big salaries or bonus then I have none.
If you're taking medication for anxiety, have your dr write a medical accommodation letter to WFH if thst would help. At least that can reduce some of the pain from working in this hllhòle.
Welcome to the club!
I care and it resonates
It’s a massive weight that’s lifted, for sure. Enjoy the severance. Skill up. Spend time with family and friends. Leave the mess behind and move on. Don’t look back. Forward.🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing but no one cares
