Chevron has been doing business with Angolans, Kazakhs and N—rians for years, Dealing with Israelis will be a cake walk in comparison.

Ex -Nobloid here. It’s considered a dream Expat posting by most Who go. I visited the Noble office many times for business, hung out at the lavish homes the expats got put up in. Totally safe, except as mentioned traffic s—s. This all said, Noble did no subsurface work there, so the handful of expat positions were limited to a handful of Engineers and few other Ops roles. they have reduced the expat staff to a fraction of what it used to be and about 5 years ago they replaced the American country manager/VP with a local, so very few postings over there. End of a great era......

Doing business with Israelis on the other hand is ‘interesting’ - CVX will get a real awakening in that Dept.

@bnn - Multiple sources seem to say the Judea and Samaria was inhabited by the Jewish people in 9th century BC and then fled persecution.

There won’t be as many expat jobs anywhere going forward. This is a concerted decision by management. We have operations in Mexico and South America. When was the last time you saw a job posting for any of those locations. They are cutting down on TCO and Africa expats too. The good old days are over. Hopefully those that got lucky saved their pennies.

@but+ Just because something is in the press, doesn’t make it true.
What do history books say about this land?

Went there several years ago during a 'peaceful' time. There are occasional outbreaks of violence. Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are completely different cities. One is very modern and the other is very bohemian-like (Jerusalem). The party scene is definitely better in Jerusalem. Went to a place called Barood Bar - they have a website. They were playing Jimi Hendrix and Cream. Pretty strange. There are lots of Brits and Ethiopians there.

I've been there. Felt safer than any city in this country, even late at night. Jerusalem is full of restaurants and bars. No mandated closing time. Tourists and army guards everywhere. Overall, I really enjoyed it. Was there for 6 weeks.

I woudlnt worry about the geopolitical risks. You’re going to be in more danger in a Taxi. The can drivers there are crazy.

Better than you’d think. Good food and wine; beaches, and tech opportunities, and of course tourism. Everyone you’ll encounter in retail or hospitality roles speaks English well. The culture is a bit different. People are more direct, ignore lines, and you’ll have your backpack searched briefly upon entering many stores and buildings.
