We all know all the negatives, but is there anything that you consider a genuine perk?

Yes you have job and get paid!
Perks not percs
Nobbin’ my favorite Robin!
- lots of PTO (especially once you have some yrs of service)
- good insurance plan with reasonable rates
- Hybrid in-office (for now anyway)
- really nice 401k match and low cost plan through Fidelity
- name recognition (good for social small talk)
The lake Mary office has people that have been selling prescription dr-gs for years - what a perk!
The biggest perk (for individual contributor) was free time:
- Free time: Once you know your job (including whom to reach out in other teams to be effective), there are periods of considerable free time.
- Side Gig: Use this free time for a suitable side gig (e.g. leverage your w-2; buy a rental property and rent it for decades. Repeat for the next property, once you gain confidence).
- Aggressively save to the max in your 401k (preferable ROTH 401k); over decades, it will add up / compound nicely. Reduce your living expenses to whatever is left after 401k contribution. If luck favors you, you will last here for decades and thus have a nice sum in your 401k.
In summary, working for VZ allows for COMPOUNDING (of money, side gigs and relationships (as there are many re-orgs)) over a LONG time.
This advice is not for everyone, but could be useful to folks who can tolerate the occasional stressful politics, live below their means, are paranoid / worried about their future and will actively work to spread their risk across salary, side gig and US economy (stock market).
Best of Luck!

Wondering about RIFs and reorgs on a quarterly basis was always my favorite part. The constant change was always a great plus too. A culture of always wondering if your job wis secure is one you shouldn’t leave off the list.
for well over 30 years now its gotta be getting paid to take a sh+t .
Locsl Managers that tell craft they want to learn the job and go round and round hiding from area manager
The biggest perk is when Verizon lays you off. They provide great packages and if you’re talented, you could easily get another job quickly and pocket a large chunk of money.
Lots of benefits if you know how to work the system. Don't be a d!ck and play the game. Make your Manager or Director's life easier and the company will know about it, and word will get around, it will reward you. Sometimes you have to fall on the sword and "do the needful" but it's usually followed by a reprieve. Pain is relatively short lives. Godspeed.
The manager not knowing how to do anything is definitely true. These d-mb executive jira ticket reduction is ridiculous. I swear, a new manager always try to follow best practices but not knowing that this is not a business of making jira tickets. Omg. I was sitting there. I heard the vague requirements and I'm told I cannot start the work until the story is made!!! And I cannot make the ticket... and I have to wait for 40 hours of nothing for the other person return from vacation. By all means okey dokey. I won't have problem sleeping at night for draining the budget.
Health plan is really good. I use the Vision stuff too and the opticians push each other out of the way due to how good it is
Was out for 2 surgeries over the years - everything was covered
Managers that dont know the actual job
Getting paid for doing nothing
Health plan, one of the best
Salary, 401k, stocks, bonuses and lots of vacations....been at other companies and this by far is solid on those...if you can stand the reorgs. Changes, back and forth and circus....if you know how to handle it, it's a good company to make a living off
