OS/400 and AIX are both in their shrinking/dying phase. It’s not due to AIX or OS/400 being poor products (far from it), but it’s really being driven by ISV’s who have decided to move to LINUX so that they support just one code stack. NOTE Linux on Power is not even considered. In the last 2 years we have gotten far more requests to migrate vs upgrade. Throw in cheaper Intel HW and SW costs and the writing is on the wall. Lastly customers can’t find AIX or OS/400 talent, but they can easily find Intel Linux talent.

@kaes I have friends in that area of systems and was told they moved all AIX development to India and are scaling back the roadmap. Sounds like Powers end is near.

Speaking of r-talk. Did I really hear all AIX moved outside US and entire team "redeployed"? Seems like a big deal, but nothing in the news about this.

Based on the recent Ricky talk I was at in person at Almaden - 10% target for PIP - as a directive to downline management - as part of checkpoint process - so - what - year end for starters. For "operational efficiency" you know.

So RA === staffing reduction - often multiples in a group; does get you token severance
So PIP === target on your back - often singular; does not get you token severance

But as my manager (who indicated I'm close to a PIP) indicated "If they decide to RA then lowest rated, even if not on PIP, are RA targets - so /don't be a RA target/". Gee thanks.

So per this annoyingly periodic topic I'd suggest that the post Checkpoint timelines (Jan-Feb) will be ripe for PIP fodder as the required PIP metrics are effected and folks freak (and find this site).

This seems like a good place to practice a comedy routine to an unresponsive audience.
