Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

It's more than just a threat of leaving

The main driver of the Great Resignation is remote work. People want it, and they are not scared to quit to get it. WFC should really pay attention to this.

Reasons Why Workers Leave for New Jobs

  • Remote Work Opportunities – 45%
  • Flexibility to Care for Family – 40%
  • Flexible Work Hours – 34%
  • Inability to Follow COVID-19 Safety Protocols – 34%

It's a dangerous game. Word gets out, then you'll lose customers like Dell, DirecTV and others did when they moved their call centers to other countries. I know several high level investors who are thinking of leaving and pulling funds already due to the offshoring of jobs.

@qef+1fdRrksA... They will find the butts in India/Philippines. WF Executives are not worried, since there is an 'ocean of talent' off-shore.

Someone posted that if you leave another bu-t will be in your old seat faster than you bat an eye.

Depends on the work you do.

IT people are in high demand and companies are having trouble finding people.

No one is irreplaceble, but employees are driving the bus right now, at least as far as tech.

@jdm+1fdRrksA I agree 100%. When I left, my manager said it took two months to just get the job posted. Recruitment was buried. I would imagine it's still that way due to the emphasis on off-boarding rather than hiring.

We’ll get ready. RTO announcement supposed to be coming out late today. 3/14 start with several weeks ramp up time from that date. Let the resignations begin.

It’s about attrition and not keeping those they want to leave, “Happy”.

They are prepared for the inherent brain drain / risks associated with this strategy

If the job is fully remote and not customer-facing, the bank can replace resigning US employees with employees on the other side of the world for a much lower expense.. Have fun with the Great Resignation! Many jobs will leave our shores for good while whiny entitled workers will wonder why they can’t find the right job.

@crg I totally agree. I don’t mind RTO at all, but I don’t know why there’s the sudden focus on location and butts in seats. As a manager, I don’t plan to enforce this with my people unless I’m forced to (and they still haven’t made it clear what those rules are anyway).

I actually like my job and my direct boss. I’m good at what I do, am conscientious, and I think Wells Fargo benefits from having me here. But I do wish Wells Fargo would bring themselves into the 2020s. Happy employees yield better work and better service to our customers. “Butts in seats” totalitarian dictatorships went out in the 1980s. It does not take rocket science to make this a better company which will draw the talent.

And yet you're still here. How does that work?

Certainly not true on the speed of bringing new people in. The people who left on our teams (IT related) where the intent is to bring in replacements is taking months.

2500 cloud engineers need to be hired. Let's make some funding available and leave.

oh, yes you can bet your a-s tech is affected.

Not going back to the office. Will leave once commanded and get a real raise in the process. Bye bye.

Wells may want people to leave, but the people who leave will be the best and brightest.

You can quote all the numbers you like but RTO will happen and you'll have a decision to make - stay or go. For the most part, nobody will care. It's 100% up to you.

They don't care! As @ete is saying, they want you to leave.

Constantly threatening to leave because you want remote work isn't going to change their minds. Leave. Someone else will be in your seat quicker than you can bat an eye.
In fact, they want you to leave. So quit posting about it thinking that they care, because I can definitely tell you that they don't. Sorry if that hurts your feelings but the reality is that they just don't care if you leave.

It's been said 100 times. WF wants employees to leave. Operational efficiency won't come close to being achieved until headcount is 190K or below. We're at 250K -265K right now, depending on data source (taking acct. India, etc.)
