Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Verification of former employment?

I am just about to start a new job, and the company I am moving to uses a 3rd party to verify your resume. I gave them the benefits 800 number, but they sent me an email saying they couldn't verify my employment. I just called it myself to see what is going on, and the phone system sends you in circles, eventually needing a social and a pin to get farther. Exxon screwing me from the grave. Anyone else have a contact other than the 800 number for a 3rd party to use?

The same happened to me when my current employer tried to verify. I had to call Benefits and conference in HR of the new company for EM to verify. Such a mess.

Have them call 1(800) 328 - 7448.

PS. At the risk of getting banished from the good ship lollipop, I dare anyone here to convert those numbers into words and post it 😁

I had the same issue when trying to close on my house last year. I think I ended up sending them to my boss who went direct to HR. sorry can't remember exactly what was done, but yes same struggles.

@3fff+1eycEXwb — EM policy prohibits current employees from giving recommendations for separated employees. Doubt that anyone cares anymore though. I’ve seen plenty of folks give laid-off employees recs on LinkedIn.

Getting VOE just before you leave is probably easier than after you're out of the system. Plus 1st and last pay stubs can be helpful.

Do you know if XOM has any policy on managers providing recommendations / references for former employees looking for new jobs at other companies? Is that just at each manager's discretion or is there an official stance?

I had similar challenges. I never could get a proper verification because the XOM system verifies by fax through EDA and many verification companies cant use that. However i was able to get someone from Curtiba to help a bit. Keep in mind that the verification system used for a new job/background check is identical to that used for mortgage loan. No reason to show your hand to XOM

I had the same problem. The resume verification companies use the same managed service providers that XOM uses and you are guaranteed not to get them to solve any problems or go through a lengthy process to find the right contact.

I just gave them the direct email addresses and phone numbers (including personal) of my supervisor and manager.

Send them most recent pay stub (black out $ amounts) and W2 (black out those $ amounts as well). Can you also provide personal work reference?

I came from a couple that went out of business (acquired) and nobody kept records. I had to provide old pay stubs and W2. I also threw in a correspondence on old company letterhead from years ago re: a promotion from the old company. Just to reinforce my time at the company.

I actually asked for a VOE right before I was cut loose in February, and just sent them that. Also sent the SPOSA pay stub. Hopefully that will do the trick. I'm just being paranoid because they use your resume for the verification, and I listed each affiliate I worked for individually (I have a complex work history). I'm hoping the 3rd party is sophisticated enough to understand they are all the same company, but the way they are asking for documentation is worrisome. Being out of work for a year will make you a little nervous about trivial things like this.

Send paystubs with the actual amounts blacked out. Start date to end date should work….

Wouldn’t old pay stubs work? I had all of mine forwarded to my personal email.

Provide these info to your background checker:
employmentverification@exxonmobil.com
+1(800)262-2363
Email is better in getting results. Good luck.

Seems more like you're wanting to see what they say. You won't be able to do that yourself.
Just give them the corporate number and let them call and get directed to the appropriate place to verify employment. That's their job.

Corporate Headquarters
5959 Las Colinas Boulevard
