Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Remote workers

If we're to start working remotely, would is it allowed to relocate my residence and work from there? Or is that a big no-no? I've been hearing about them allowing people to relocate to a new site if they are offered a position at another site with assistance. I wouldn't need assistance, just permission to relocate. They closed our building 2 1/2 years ago. So there is not a location for me to report to.

Don't move for them. Saw someone move to Charlotte and then displaced a month later.

their assessments and decisions are based on where you are today, moving to a core location , even at your own expense, will not save you. some people may get relo offers but not everyone. even folks just outside the 40 mile rule that are willing to commute may not be given the opportunity

I've seen people who chose to move from their current remote location to another non-hub remote location and it was treated as giving notice, no severance.

I heard even if you do relocate to a hub city there is no guarantee you will not be displaced.

You must do something that the bank considered critical. Everyone I know impacted by LS was given no options, even the ones that begged to relocate at their own expense. Didn't matter.

"You're not in the right city, so you're going to be layed off".

"What? Can I just move to a hub?"

"Request denied"

"But I'm only in this building because you told me I had to work here!"

"We don't make these decisions lightly..."

@op your OP and response are straight jibberish. Take a breath, write a rough draft of your ask, have it proof read by peers, make revisions, then post and receive a logical response.

So if I choose to relocate to another area and I am working remotely, they will give me those options? I have another reason for relocating but not sure I want to bring it into play with my employer.

I was remote and now displaced. I was offered three options:

  1. Move to a select hub city. Some relocation expenses paid for (not enough to cover it all though). No change in salary.
  2. Commute to a hub city at my own expense. I lived more than 1,000 miles away so not an option for me. No change in salary.
  3. Be displaced and receive severance.
