Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Quiet quitting and PIPs

With the increased threat of PIPs that don't even offer severance as a safety net, are people still quiet quitting or is everybody back to doing everything that's asked of them for as long as it takes to finish it? I have been quiet quitting for months but I have to admit, the latest developments do make me nervous.

Stop being cowards by quitting! They are violating the law. Stand up against this instead of running away. If you run you are part of the promise that you are allowing to be imposed on your children and grandchildren. It isn't just here, it is everywhere. Stand up and stop it! Don't relinquish your principles and ethics!

@OP There is no such thing as “quiet quitting”. There’s just doing your job for the agreed upon pay.

I personally have never bought the “looming recession” gaslighting being perpetrated by the likes of CNBC, Fortune, Forbes, etc. You shouldn’t either.

Management is trying to scare employees across all sectors of private industry into thinking that a downturn is imminent in an infantile attempt at scaring workers into surrendering their leverage. Don’t fall for it. The US economy just added over 500,000 jobs, and everybody everywhere is hiring.

The tech sector layoffs are being done to reassert employer dominance and to normalize salaries. It has nothing to do with economic conditions. Coming soon to an O&G super-major near you.

The best decision of my work career was to retire earlier than I had anticipated. The gaslighting/brain washing tactics used to train the "sheep" that remained was making me annoying to be around for my family and friends. I'm almost back to normal after the escape a few months ago.

I have implemented a modified version of quiet quitting; it's called quiet f'ing which really relaxes me and relieves my stress from having to deal with all the idiosyncrasies (more like idioCrazys) that work around me!!

@lrt+1l7mQDbJ Interesting, that's definitely what seems to be happening to me. Is this a more widespread technique being used?

Well if they keep piping older employees I'm sure nore lawsuits will come there way.

The latest trick is to remove all meaningful responsibility from older employees and shove them into low value jobs, them claim they are being pipped because they didn't deliver value.
