Situation in my hub: It’s 2:30 and the 3 people here are long gone. The people who come in early start leaving at noon and the ones who stay later come in around 11. I also see people leave after an hour.
Commute time= part of my working hours as far as I’m concerned and NO the 6 hrs is not true as far as I know (badge swipe= in office)
They are using TEAMS application to track your location. The app pings your location. Every 5 minutes. It isn’t badges because every site does not uses badges. Everyone has been told to use TEAMS.
Tech people only have to be in office for Agile ceremonies. Don't hate the players, hate the game.
I also now make my commute time part of my work time. I leave during lunch break and finish from home.
Unless I am missing deliverables, I don’t ever want to hear a word about RTO again.
Why would a manager want to pull your hours in office unless they are forced to? Also NO, managers don’t have the ability to get this. They are forwarded to us from top down on my team. I could care less if my team is in the office but we are being required.
the actual reports do show the number of in-office days, number of PTO days and an average per week over the period. there is more detail available behind that showing day-by-day attendance. The reports are based on both badge swipes and login location (I.e. if you are using a temporary badge they will still pick up in-office login). Hours in-office are not in the manager's summary reports they receive.... however, of course it's in the underlying data - so if a manager has reason to suspect they can ask for that info to be pulled as well.
The report I saw was the weekly average number of days in office for each employee for a rolling period. PTO and holidays are part of that number and were not split out. We’re asked to evaluate a longer range of time, since we have team members living in areas with severe weather. They only started showing these to managers in our area a few months ago, before it was only director level seeing these. There’s nothing about hours in office. I don’t think that’s tracked because a good number of people in my office are only here a few hours or less and they seem to be fine. I do think the tracking is done by badge because I know someone who was showing up on the list because their badge wasn’t working.
Hey, if they don't want me to work at home on days I also happen to work in the office, that's great. Less work for me. These id--ts in NYC need to stop being so damn stupid.
What is exactly on the report? Like just names of people and then… they made it in three days or not? It’s also confusing because some people are saying swipes and others are saying network logins. What’s the actual data?
It's fairly easy to track when you connect via remote. Easier to track that than it is to track when you swipe your badge at the office.
Maybe not reported currently, but the data simply needs to be collected and provided if this is the true direction.
I manage a team of 57 and there are no duration times listed on my reporting. Not saying all the reports are the same, so … our focus last year was on employees not coming in at all. That problem largely taken care of. Hours in the office has not come up yet on my team. We have heard that the company ultimately wants four days in a week, so perhaps that event will mean a crackdown on hours in??? Who knows.
They absolutely are tracking duration without badge swiped. On our reporting, less than 4 hours logged in to the on-site servers does not credit the employee with being present for the day. This has been tested and confirmed through the reporting.
They are NOT using badging times due to many sites not requiring badging out to leave the facility.
As someone who gets these reports, there is nothing to indicate duration at office, only days badged in. That’s not to say someone doesn’t know, but I am not seeing that level of detail yet.
RTO is ridiculous. People on my floor swipe in and stay for a little bit just to stay off ‘the list’. No one even knows each other or works together. I doubt they will start checking duration because lets face it, WF is not exactly competent. Even using just pure badge swipes, the reporting isn’t always accurate. It’s all a waste of time and money.

They have badge in time/locations, doesn’t take much to figure out when you logged in from home.Duh.
They aren't checking duration...yet. Don't give them a reason. It's people like this that sc--w it up for the other 90%.
If you choose to login from home, then, presto, they suddenly know… also any gap between networks, can be tracked.

I swipe in but my building allows me to leave without swiping out. They have no idea how long I'm in office each day.
Maybe I never leave.
