Why is it so hard to get out of Beaumont? Quality of life here is not the best, work is getting too much with attrition, and management keeps denying sending people to other DS sites because they pull the “we want high competency in Beaumont, and Beaumont is the place to be”. Seriously thinking about quitting and just going to work for a DS sure for another major.

I am incredibly PROUD and EXCITED to work at ExxonMobil Beaumont where we are accomplishing great things through innovation, perseverance, and inclusive and collaborative teams.
:p
BeauMont translates as 'beautiful mountain'.
As you can see, it was a lie from the beginning (of the colonization).
No frets.
Culture at the Beaumont sites is pretty awful. Way too many hours. When I got moved to Baytown my hours went down dramatically and my ranking skyrocketed (adversity breeds competency, I guess). Comparing notes with other BMT refugees this actually seems to be the case with most of them.
Is beaumont chemical side as bad as the refinery?
If we have to sell one of our three Gulf Coast Refineries (Beaumont, Baton Rouge, and Baytown), Beaumont will be the first to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Yea Beaumont is bad lol. I’m about to quit too
Those I know who have left BMT and went to headquarters often suffered in rank.
It's the same at all the refineries (and HQ too for heritage R&S career path). Everything is stalled (unless you have a sponsor) and there are less opportunities with less refineries, so more "advisor" positions while waiting for a turn that may or may not come. Ask yourself what matters most - location, job position, pay, work / life balance, etc. - and compare what you have today vs what you can find elsewhere. I've always been told you can't pick both job position and location, only one, and have made my decision. You make yours - good luck.
Beaumont looks better than Midland.
Hard to get out of Beaumont? You’re the problem! There is nothing stopping you from leaving, go! We won’t miss you! If it is hard for you to get out it’s because you have no marketable skills. Many companies are hiring, they just don’t want to hire you so shut your mouth and be glad you have a job and hope your supervisor is as incompetent as you so they never figure out how useless you are.
Beaumont IS the place to be. If you want to go floating down the Neches!
@mru+1eTGhiEE, you sound like the quoted mgmt. member from Beaumont. Lol. Why anyone would personally stay miserable by working for a 3rd class company? Just to make a town better? You seem to be drinking a lot of koolaid and have lost ability to think before speaking.
Stay in Beaumont and make it a better place. XoM is a multinational oil company and need folks where they have asset. Damn, you guys complain too much
Some of the LinkedIn posts by local Beaumont mgmt. makes it look as if Beaumont is the place to be. The XOM mgmt. types are same anywhere you go, I guess.
