25% tariff on aluminum! The F150 is about to become not so profitable.

@nw+1jksfxqvq just stepping into this from the side, I'm a bit concerned you haven't taken into account the lead time to build and staff factories, in addition to lead time to build the supply chain for manufacturing equipment and upskilling more people in developing different manufacturing processes. In the interim, the products must still be imported and the cost carried by consumers. This did a good job covering the problem space: https://youtu.be/5KAzT4J_Ic4

@nj+1jksfxqvq you obviously don't know how tariffs work. You only pay it if you don't care about spending more on foreign goods.

For those of us with a brain, we'll just switch to made in USA products which will now be price competitive.

Oh and smart companies will on-shore manufacturing to avoid the tariffs.

I don't know why I'm explaining this to you, AOC sent you talking points and you were just vomiting them back up.

Oh FFS, if you're even remotely serious about tariffs and not a Russian bot, you're gonna be sad to learn you'll be the one paying those taxes.

@gw+1 Eliminating EVs?

Hey, I just read that Tesla figured out how to double the lifespan of their batteries.

How’s that offshoring of engineering working?

How’s the diversity of your research staff? Any old white guys there anymore?

retired a few years ago with over 30+ yrs in the company... Personally I do not feel sorry for the tariffs JF is crying about.. The company for years were forcing suppliers to move manufacturing overseas... So now that the cat is out of the box JF wants us to feel sorry all of a sudden. No thanks let the company reap what the sow... Sorry but it is hard to see your friends loose their jobs because of such decisions.

@d6+1jksfxqvq there are only two classes in this country, the borgoise, and the proletariat. There's one extreme, and everyone else mucking around in the leftover rounding error. just look at the charts https://apps.urban.org/features/wealth-inequality-charts/

Trying to break down the rounding error into subgroups is just an attempt to make the working class fight for scraps instead of evening out the playing field

EV tax credits: the middle class driving 10+ year old cars subsidize the upper-middle and upper class who can afford brand new EVs. what a country! how about an equivalent sales tax cancellation if you want to buy a used car. of course the price of used cars will then go up by the sales tax amount haha.

No way we'd win WWII today with all the off shore manufacturing.

It’s not just the factories and the machines, it the people that know how to mass produce stuff. We would have to rely on foreign nationals to be loyal and make our war supplies.

This is a national security crisis.

@ce+1jksfxqvq don't forget the benefits in having in-country manufacturing in war time. No way we'd win WWII today with all the off shore manufacturing.

Anyone can be axed now. Doesn't matter if you are a top achiever or a low achiever. Lot of mistakes will happen on who will be picked for layoffs. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Keep your finances together. Good Luck!

Foolish to post “Let these manufacturing jobs go elsewhere”.
Apparently you are completely unaware of the economics of manufacturing and the ancillary businesses that accompany manufacturing and benefits to the communities they are in.
Absolutely brain-less.

Gotta love it, Trump fighting for the jobs no one wants. Unions always bi--h about how unsafe and terrible their jobs are, but they want more of them instead of letting automation do it and the people move up the food chain to safe, clean, well paid careers. Let these manufacturing jobs go elsewhere and earn your money with your smarts and buy it back cheaper.

Perhaps we can start a small company to sell DIY kit vehicles, using 3-D printed technology? First model can be the PolymerF80.
