So Xerox offshored most functions thinking it would save them big $
Then offshore needed 3 people to do just sub par work of 1 U.S. worker
The payroll grew and grew as they still need onshore workers because let's face it, you get what you pay for and offshore teams s—
The work suffers, customers leaving, Covid happened and nobody is paying their bills.......so now onshore HCL and offshore HCL all reduced to 28 hpur work weeks, so now even less work will get done, no new business coming in, unpaid invoices in the millions......Xerox losing big $$$, HCL still gets paid regardless because they have a contract and low and behold HCL reported record earnings for the past fiscal here.......who's the fool now?

My experience with the offshore worker trained to do my job was this: yes they are nice people but their approach and work ethic was different from ours. There was not a sense of urgency to getting things done. Multitasking problems and work assignments was not even a consideration and if things got too out of hand it was sent back to the
originator ...After transitioning the work I was told that our way of doing business didn’t
fit how they thought it should be done and
they would make their own changes ..
Needless to say things have not gone well .
HCL is saying that Xerox isn't even paying the full payment which was the reason for cutting hours, but you're right HCL is still getting some money . Xerox sent a lot of people to HCL in various high level roles that will affect many clients if Xerox doesn't handle it properly. Xerox won't even tell clients that they're doing this. I foresee many other clients leaving soon as the contract is up or looking into buying out contracts in order to leave.
The division i am in had 10 people so they pay HCL for 10 headcount and hold them accountable to meet the targets that were in place. Of course they cant come close to meeting the targets when replacing people with 10-30 years experience so HCL staffs about 20 people and has them working 10-14 hour days so X is making out ok in cases where hcl has agreed to SLA's
@nle
That line about offshore being equal in ability seriously almost made me choke on laughter, I have been training them for months and they cannot think, it has to be black or white or they don't get it and the copier world is grey, you have to be able to analyze, come up with solutions, they cannot, they have no sense of urgency, I get so frustrated as I tell them exactly what to do and they still get it wrong, they cannot do the work, that is proven, they may be nice people but companies don't thrive on nice, they thrive on knowledge and productivity, of which they have neither!
HCL employees are willing to work for less. In my experience, most offshore workers are equal to onshore workers in ability and exceed in dedication. Unless you have unique skills, unique to the ROW not just XRX, your pay is on its way down until the world equalizes. Technology and education enabled this. The HCL cost of labor is higher than expected for other reasons.
@scathing takedown comments
You don't get their point, I do, the point the OP is trying to make is that regardless if Covid happened or not because companies like Xerox think only about $$$ and not about their employees that made them successful that companies like HCL come in and promise the world and because Xerox fed into this with nothing but greed in their eyes that they fell vulnerable because HCL had nothing to lose, just Xerox, the only fools in this arrangement are Xerox
Xerox sounds like a rock solid company, with a lot of potential to grow, that has a great leadership team which has set it up for future longevity and success - said no one ever
Echo.... Like HCL had some grand wisdom of Covid-19 coming and its impact on Xerox contract and they were Soooo Smart?
“Damn! You sure got them with this scathing takedown.”
