In a meeting today a question was asked what type of communications are going to be sent if a member tests positive and/or comes into close contact - the answer was a very honest one - with no tracking of who is going in what days, we can’t do that. So my kids pre-school can close for 2 weeks but my employer can’t send out an email if my teammate that I randomly sit next to tested positive! Unreal.

Yep, most places gave up contact tracing when Omicron hit.
Omicron can hang in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves the room.
It spreads too fast to do useful contract tracing.
For the record, we did not do nearly enough testing and tracing back in 2020 at the start and we never really fixed that since.
Contact tracing with the latest variant is an exercise in futility I'm afraid. Not enough hours and resources in the day.
All for being chummy, but if any coworker asks for my private medical information, I will politely decline and immediately follow up with a complaint to HR.
First, consider changing pre-schools if it's truly closing for 2 weeks due to a single Covid case (the CDCs guidance is 5 days).
Second, in the absence of WFC contact tracing, if they're sitting next to you - talk to them. Learn their names. You know, embrace civility. And how to contact them if they randomly don't appear for a workday since it's a concern. Empower yourself.
Third, maybe get some anti-anxiety medicine. It's going to be OK.

I noticed you said probably. That’s the thing about COVID, there is no rhyme or reason who get hits hard and who doesn’t. Contrary to right wing media, it has nothing to do with age or precious health.
Either way, saying the worse is over is like saying that after the nuclear bo-b ki---d millions and it’s just the radiation sickness you have to worry about.

Any employer should make a reasonable effort to at the bare minimum send a communion to the effect of “there was a positive case of Covid on your floor reported on X date” …. Those with a heightened risk could then adjust their schedule to maybe take the next 2 days as their “off” days…
If you’re sick, stay home.
Just wear a mask and you will be fine. A cloth one. I heard those work really well.

Oddly enough, I was in the hospital today for a routine test and I did ask. The doctor said that he wished more people would get vaxxed but thought that the worst of it is probably over. It's time to move on.

Contact tracing has stopped in the local school system here. Mask mandates are going away. We've moved from a pandemic to an endemic. Each person is responsible for taking precautions that are necessary for their personal and family situation.
