Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

General question - Moving to 1 operating company

We’ve all heard it on nearly every townhall. My question to you all is how many jobs are going to get axed as they consolidate.

We’ve seen it with marketing. But even more can be done. It seems to be happening to sales. Curious what everyone’s thoughts are on this.

I was in Tax & Accounting (Creative Solutions purchase). When a purchase of another company was made it was absorbed and became TR. Probably still the same. My personal feeling is when they outsource support for Tax & Accounting, and you know it's coming, that will ki-l that division.

Holding to operating makes more sense for international publishing groups, which previously weren't really integrated with the rest of TR, even within the same country.

@nmv+1c9dg9HA it's funny you say that because I was thinking the same thing. I'm no expert, but the "Holding company to Operating company" never quite added up. When West/TR acquires companies, as far as I know they are never kept as subsidiaries--they are absorbed and the products were made to be West/TR products. But because I'm no expert I couldn't believe that they were promoting a concept that seems to be so patently untrue. Am I missing something??

@nmv+1c9dg9HA Completely agree. Before it was one enterprise, now its one operating company. Nothing new except perhaps they're accelerating outsourcing.

The single operating company jargon is all FUD. It's just a smoke screen for additional cost-cutting / outsourcing. TR was already a single operating company and the work to integrate products into a single suite was well under way before the existing leadership came on board.
