Thread regarding IBM layoffs

This smells like HR's doing

IBM has a 4.0 rating on Glassdoor and Arvind Krishna has an 88 percent positive approval rating. I've been here long enough to know that yes, there are those who enjoy working here, but they're a minority. The only way I can explain this is that HR has been working overtime on improving both of those ratings since we're having trouble hiring.

Glassdoor is p4p company,

  • as someone said they take down the reviews that the company doesn't like when they pay for it.
  • salary info is either really old or again kept intentionally really low (p4p from companies)
  • some company filed a case against an employee for a bad glassdoor review, so they'll also share personal info and hence i consider almost all reviews as fake.

Also, ignore Glassdoor salary info. They don't filter on recent. That "average" they post probably includes salaries from 1999.

Glassdoor is a total joke, they take down reviews that the companies don't like. I've had friends write less than positive reviews about companies they work for, Glassdoor initially approves them, and posts them, but then after a week or two they are removed.

They are probably fake posts. IBM is a horrible company.

I once worked next to a division that clearly thought they had a good environment. They'd talk at full volume, play table tennis, blast music, bounce a basketball, and have all kinds of fun. They also created a toxic environment for those of us in another division who sat next to them and had to actually get work done. And of course we weren't allowed to work at home. And we had to work on incredibly stupid projects. And Rob Thomas sent out an incredibly mo--nic post every few weeks. And.... And then we were laid off.

It is widely known in the industry IBM is a toxic work environment.

Jeeesh - quit making such foolish blanket statements.

Maybe in some divisions, but certainly not all. I always had a quite good environment.

Puhlease. They paid good money for that rating. Now we all know Glassdoor is BS. If you believe that rating, we got some great SW solutions for you to purchase too. Gartner rates (aka was paid) our technology the best of breed. Magic Quadrant in fact. You can watch your money disappear so IBM has more to spread around to "objective" third parties.
