Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Merry Early Christmas From US Bank!

I get to commute an extra 120+ miles and 4-6 hours a week to a prison compound in Gresham starting in lovely rainy December! All so I can better collaborate with my team two time zones away! What joy!

@2qgc+1uSzhT62 Sounds easy to do but not if you are expected to take public transit to downtown from the suburbs and it takes you an hour and a half to do so one way. That’s 3 hours travel time to turn around and log in by Noon from home. Sounds insane. It does not work in busy markets. It’s more like a headache 3+ days a week. They want us defeated.

Swipe your badge, then turn around and leave. Don't even walk through the door. Then go home and log in and deduct the commute time from your efforts for the day. They're bad at managing. Use that. Spend all of your effort on figuring out ways to hit their metrics without giving a single thought to actual productivity. You didn't create this clown show - you just exist within it. Put your own interests first.

USBEF is a moneymaker. As such it is astonishing to me the bank would risk pi----g off that large ticket group, who has been on the west side of Portland for 20+ years going back to a legacy company. It doesn't surprise me that they might be rethinking closing Tigard.

@obc+1uSzhT62 It’s not funny. It literally feels like prison compound. Some mentioned a camp not the good kind. You have no personal space. You have to commute to a city you did not interview for and you will catch Covid cause shared spaces shared germs. You might even die from it. It’s all depending how your immune system reacts. All on US Bank.

Who else finds the "neighborhood" lingo dystopian?

Has anyone else heard rumor that they might be re-considering closure of the Tigard office? Building has 200 angry people now being forced to commute cross town and I've heard that several have opened HR cases to try and keep remote status.

"Is there a requirement of how long you have to -stay- in office when you badge in?"

Varies by manager. Most see through the BS and encourage you to travel as per your convenience but there are some id--t managers who take pleasure in watching their direct reports suffer.

Is there a requirement of how long you have to -stay- in office when you badge in? For a lot of people commuting from long distances, couldn't you badge in in the morning, then leave in a couple of hours to beat traffic on the way home and work remotely for the rest of the day?

"Remember in Columbia center you only have to badge in, but not out"

I thought that was everywhere. No?

I am in the same position, forced return to office just so I can sit in a random neighborhood and be on teams all day. None of my team is located in Oregon or will be at Columbia Center, this is just BS.

Elfio and Runklestiltskins can F**$k off

This bank is trying all they can to get rid of people in OR, WA, and CA.

Why they want Portland people to come into office to speak on team is beyond anyone logical thinking. By 2pm Oregon time, pretty much everyone on my team is offline while I sit there all alone in my cube and think of that long commute home.

Oh yeah, Winter is coming! You know nuthin, Elicio and Andy!

Love a paycut because of taxes, commuting, etc right before the holiday as well

Do the bare minimum to keep your job. Remember, they are tracking badge swipes and not the actual time you’re in the office. Make the best out of a bad situation. The job market will turn around and when it does USB will feel the pain.
