Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Lol

Ford and GM are light years behind Tesla in electric vehicles and are trying and failing to catch up. Friend of mine worked at Ford in EV area and told me they everything the leadership team was promising to shareholders was far behind schedule from their commitments. Layoffs = failed leadership. Yet somehow the leaders never get laid off. Go buy a Tesla.

Tesla is only smoke and mirrors. I don’t see many teslas on the road compared to other makes. They make 1.8m cars a year compared with Toyota with 10m. My point auto companies are chasing windmills in a bid to worship at the alter of “climate change”. Give me a break.

Example of the meetings we have at Ford:

“ So what do you think we should do about this particular situation/issue here?”

“How does Tesla do it?”

“Tesla does it like this…”

“Then do it like Tesla… if you can…”.

Bill Ford lies. He announced over a decade ago during the Atlas concept truck debut how Ford was committed to EV dev; well 10 years went by and not much was done, Mach E and Lightning aren't close to the numbers Hyundai/ Kia, Tesla, even Nissan are posting.
Farley is a sociopath and one of the best manipulators in the business - he backstabbed and buried everyone in his way ( including Hackett, an even bigger FAILURE, as proven with this weeks destruction of D(umb)Ford, and Joe Hinrichs ( who still managed to fail up as Pres of CSX Transportation ). You can also thank the pig of the group, K Robinson, who masterminded the Boston Consult list that targeted anyone over 50 with over 20 years of service. They really got screwed for all their hard work, pulling Ford through the worst financial crisis 2008, and getting shortchanged on their pensions. Farley continues to terminate anyone that's a threat to his reign, the rest are numbers so Lawler can artificially boost the stock price and make room for the new clowns' posse. Look at all the production programs, everything is delayed. Doug F is making everything look like old tired Teslas. Farley also knows his time is quickly running out to produce real results; profits from the sale of vehicles and services. Bill isn't looking so good, neither is Lawler, they both know time is running out, especially once brands like Nio come to the US. If the Ford family ( which dominate the BoD ) are serious about positive transformation, get a real leader, with a deep understanding of core business - manufacturing - as well as real services, NOT the bs of subscriptions, and maybe Ford will have a chance.

@oir+1nowLgok Cybertruck was originally announced as going into production in late 2021. One of a long list of promises that Elon has made when unveiling cars that never came to fruition (remember the roadster that was going to go on sale in 2020?)

What broken promises? Elon told people he would not be building the Cybertruck as it would a) be too expensive if it had enough battery cells to make it functional and b) too heavy. As opposed to JF who claimed he would build millions of awesome affordable electric F150s by 2024.

“During the latest earnings call, Tesla CEO Elon Musk was quoted as saying that if the company would try building the Cybertruck today, it would ‘ literally cost one million dollars a piece ‘ mainly because it can’t build enough 4680 battery cells.”

Maybe Tesla will finally get the Cybertruck to customers this year? Speaking of broken promises to shareholders.

I won’t buy a Tesla. Thanks but no thanks. When companies can lower battery weight, cost, have a robust charging network, solve for reduced range in cold weather, ensure my house won’t catch on fire, standardize charging, ensure we won’t have rolling blackouts and the grid can support the # of vehicles being charged, ensure my electric bill won’t be through the roof and reduce the cost of an EV, I might consider purchasing one. Oh wait and don’t forget the issues with mining the materials for batteries. Most people don’t even talk about that. 😏
