Do it safely or not at all. You see it you own it…then when you send an email to the manager who asked you to do the above, he asks your direct supervisor why he’s receiving emails.

Chevron had some excellent managers historically, regrettably most like myself left in the 2016/2020 clear out.
The term Chevron manager these days is an oxymoron, some of these so called managers couldn't find thier way out of the office door without assistance never mind manage competent folks to produce a positive outcome.

I know three(3) currently female GM's who use "There is no rank in the room" Feel free to state your opinion" frequently in thier meetings....the few stupid enough to believe and voice their true opinions somehow disappear from the company payroll within a few pay cycles.

If you're not a HiPot or on the list to be recognized, management is always lying to you. They need to set up false hope so you will do extra work. Once you achieve whatever goals or tasks that have been laid out, you'll find out that the business needs have changed. Your manager will magically get a new job or promotion and the incoming boss won't know anything about what was said nor will there be any effort to find out. You start over from square one.

We are trouncing the broader market and most competitors on stock performance. Great!

“Actually we are winning”: not really. Prices are up and stocks raised on increased optimism following the pandemic (not because of our great performance). The Permian is a short lived play (that we just lucked into) that will soon start to decline and there is little else on the horizon to replace our declining reserves. Not winning but rather surviving for now.

My boss’s boss explaining that they had no idea what happened to my approved promotion. My manager knew it had been approved in December but couldn’t find it in the system in March. Never did find out what HR MRG had to say or if they even were consulted to explain what happened because my boss did not make it in the 2020 reorg. I’m an old employee, and this didn’t surprise me. Money and promo likely got reshuffled for a younger employee. I do hope karma catches up to people.

Actually we are winning and it has worked. Since the Transformation, if we look at stock performance since April 1, 2021 -

XOM +83%
CVX +50%
SHEL +49%
BP +47%

DOW +12%

We are beating the broader market, so investors are flocking to our industry and our stock. This was MWs intent.

Under the old ranking system: Manager: "I've giving you a 2 ranking, but you're an above average 2". This from an otherwise good manager. Translation: I'd give you a higher ranking, I really appreciate your performance, but all the 1's and 2+'s are taken up by the high-pots and GM's favorites. Today's translation: I'd give you a higher ranking, I really need your performance, but all the higher rankings (and promotions) are taken up by the high-pots and diversity placements.
