What are the chances that we will know before Aug. 14 if we have been accepted or not?

There will be no Denials. Only some extensions are possible but more than likely not many. If to many people I'm one group take it there may possibly an extension due to the fact that the manager may possibly be given the option to hire a replacement. Let's say if a manager has 11 techs. 3 or 4 decide to leave. They would let them 4 leave but will allow possibly for 1 backfill. Then will reorg the remaining. Just my thoughts.

There will be a RIF post VSP. Sam’s email was clear about this. If you are an employee not coming back to the office, on any type of PIP or even a warning, giving your boss any static in any way you will be RIFed. The goal is 20-25% of all employees offered with highest in my IT group. Ask your director point blank if they were asked to do a rank and stack or if they were asked to name critical roles that Vz could not live without to keep the lights on.
Gents we are going private or a sale is a ‘comin!

@1qld+1trB95Pu Managers will not know themselves before 8/14. The decisions are being made at the very top of the BUs & HR and will not be finalized until 8/13. You will find out on 8/14 if you are accepted or not. There will be few denials, if any.

Pay attention on 7/22 Q2 result
If the result is bad or the forecast is bleak, chance got VSP deny is extremely low

I would find it hard to believe that management will not talk with the VSP takers before August 14 especially if they have a good rapport with them. The only case I can think of would be the exception scenarios where entire teams take it or a lot of key people are taking it and they need to figure out the plan before they start talking.

100% chance you'll know by that date. Stack ranking, denial exceptions, etc. Will all start July 20th. Sure a few people will pull back from pressing the button, but once the names are on the initial list, managers will start the one-stop to be able to execute as early in August as possible.

As a business VZ wants as much less time for transition activity as possible before the September off books date.

You have about a 50% chance of knowing by the 14th.

The company would have to think you irreplaceable to deny your VSP and then almost Immediately decide you are expendable and RIF you.
This is VZ so experience says yes it is definately possible. Being denied the VSP isn’t immunity.

HR sent an email out specifically addressing this - I guess since they got so many questions - it's VERY clear. If you DO NOT CLICK and you get riffed later, you DO NOT get the VSP package. If you DO click, get denied, and later get riffed (before 3/28/25) then you DO get the VSP package.

If you volunteer, are turned down, and are then RIFed (within a certain timeframe), you get the enhanced package. How likely is that?

Read the FAQ 22/23. It is really pretty simple.
If you don’t volunteer you don’t get VSP.

owb+1trB95Pu is wrong. Any RIFS during the VSP window which ends March 2025, gets the same package

the rumor is all applicants are going to be approved, and approved for the sept 13 date. That way they can do the october rif without any overlap between the two. If there is overlap, they will have to give 3 weeks to the next rif and they don't want to do it.
