Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

What is this LR revealing about the company?

This LR just reinforces to everyone that delivering innovative technology and business solutions to customers is one of the lowest priorities within Cisco's senior leadership team. Having layoffs directed from several layers above the day-to-day management team shows the massive disconnect between the ELT narrative and execution.
It's a fact that everyone who works at Cisco simply needs to accept and use to plan accordingly. It's also why so many talented employees have left. Their goal of being part of something that makes a difference in the technology/business world just can't be met at Cisco.

OP @1yzu+1k3GZos1. Very well said!

It shows it's a business, just like any other.

Here lies the fuel to the widespread anger. How many times has the wife bawled over your job? Why bring Pink and others to perform between layoffs? The roller coaster is unhealthy.

How can current leadership deliver innovation and technology solutions when they don’t have any engineering chops or written a single line of code.

If you ever did a complete static analysis run you’d know most Cisco software engineers can’t either. How many bugs have there been since CSCaa00000?

Losing marketshare? I think actual data shows different.

Zero technical brain power at Cisco which is why they lose market share everyday

Why is this a surprise to anyone? How can current leadership deliver innovation and technology solutions when they don’t have any engineering chops or written a single line of code. Take for example LC. She was head of IoT and now head of Applications with a degree in Chemistry and an MBA. Zero engineering background.

You can literally see her reading from a script when she’s pitching FSO which is indicative of someone who doesn’t understand or have a good grasp of what they’re selling. Essentially they’re just a figure head, not a tech leader.

The only Cisco employees left either know Chuck is clueless and are just working a few hours a day as long as they can get away with it
The other's are newbies that are Naive (Lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment)

My sympathies go out to the Cisco employees who will be affected by layoff. I left months ago, so luckily I’m not vulnerable.

What confuses me is that I read an article earlier this year where Chuck Robins was bragging about setting aside $1 billion to retain employees. I believe the headline was “What Layoff?!?”.

What does this say about a leader?
Why would you continue to put your trust in an organization that misleads its employees so consistently?

It’s really sad state of affairs because I used to look up to Cisco. I remember being a young engineer and signing up to work for Cisco for $14 an hour. I had to move across the country and it seemed like a real opportunity long gone are the days of Cisco providing opportunity. Very unfortunate.
