Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Thank you John Visentin and Carl Icahn for saving Xerox!

No one could have predicted a pandemic like Covid-19. However through keen business management you reduced waste and lowered operating costs. This was done because Xerox was mismanaged by insiders too close to the operations. Your tough decisions to lean processes, eliminate redundant and unproductive staff, and offshore administrative and engineering functions were the right things to do. Had we stayed the course of previous leaders we would be out of business by now. The changes implemented under your leadership were absolutely essential in keeping Xerox above water while the world grapples with the Covid-19 storm. Each and every loyal and intelligent Xerox employee thanks you!! We’ll make it through this global crisis and come out stronger than ever in the long run. Thank you!!

With safe and effective vaccines on track to be delivered in the Spring, we have renewed hope that the job market improves rapidly in 2021. Most people I work with expect to be laid off before Q2 2021. Unemployment benefits should cover the time required to find a new job. Seeing the slowdowns in business activity from the inside, this company is heading for financial disaster. However, keep in mind that only one thing matters in these last days of a once great company, making sure Carl Icahn gets his $20 per share dividend payouts.

Listen, you sanctimonious twit. This is NOT sarcasm. The person who wrote it signed their name "Gracious Xeroid." If it was meant to be ironic, they would have named him/herself something more mocking like "Koolaid drinker" or "top sycophant." Believe it or not, you are not the smartest person in the (virtual) room.

@1zfb+17UsXSEv If you actually think that Carl wrote this, then yeah, you are exactly the type in which sarcasm would slap you hard in the face.

Xerox acquired Global to profit off poorly managed mom-n-pop office equipment companies. They did just that. Eliminating overpaid management, streamlining operations, consolidated cores. Now businesses continue to shift away from printing and further consolidation is happening. If you want to work for a dead end mom-pop shop, leave. If you want a solid career with unlimited potential then learn a bit about business and do your part to make Xerox successful. Put up, or shut up. Too many little whiny core people who don’t have a clue are a problem Xerox will continue to address.

@1rlt+17UsXSEv except when someone writes in sarcasm it usually sounds like sarcasm and not sycophancy. Carl probably wrote that himself as if he thinks there is any hope of avoiding karma

Seems like a lo of people on here don’t know sarcasm if it slaps them in the face.

Do a little research. Icahn is a corporate raider. He doesn’t leave companies in better shape than they were before he arrived. If any of the actions under his leadership appear to benefit Xerox in any way, it’s purely coincidental. The only ones benefitting from his leadership are Icahn & his team.

I’m guessing that you are not a life long employee and therefore I sympathize with your righteous indignation, inexperience, and your being duped into trading the cow for the magic beans. The enthusiasm of your chug-a-lug also denotes this is your first flavor of Kool Aid. I’m not a lifer but have tried alllll the flavors and they were alllll the same. You keep on efficiently drinking though b/c this flavor will be the last and it will turn out to be a tall glass of sand.

I really don't really care if anyone is watching, it's enough to know that the people that visit here know my feelings. Tell me I'm wrong about anything...

You can remove your nose from Xerox's behind now. They aren't watching and they don't care.

@oyv+17UsXSEv, I'm guessing you have been a life long employee and I'm so sick of the primadonnas that make more than everyone else and still think the world revolves around them. It's time to cut that worthless fat and go with people who adapt and actually work. You are the reason why Xerox is making changes and adapting to a new world of business, it's not 1990 any longer sir.
Profit are down because profits margins are much less than they were 30 years ago. Efficiency is the only way this is going to work, what are your suggestions to accomplish that?

Xerox is in a shrinking market and is supported by a holy mess of legacy systems and antiquated processes, all driving high costs. Lots of effort going into fixing the latter. HCL, OwnIT, reimagine, etc.

All the armchair quarterbacks on here do nothing but criticize decisions. Well, QBs, since you are the experts, what would you be doing differently to help this place survive and thrive?

Oh Geeze, I guess its time for an adult discussion. Yeah, sure, those sharks sure cut through some fat and some of it was deeply needed. Yeah, sure, they're in it for themselves but hey, this ain't Disney World, its the real world and Xerox is a publicly traded company in an industry in decline: not exactly where great top management talent goes by default. And then recall that FX was charging us quite a lot. Best outcome? FX buys us.

Yeah, thanks JV and CI for making me realize after 30+ years it was time to leave and join a company that values their employees and provides competitive salary and benefits. I wake up excited to go to work without the stress of will this be my last day. I attend company wide webcasts where senior leadership tells the truth and not just blowing smoke. Folks, these guys are in it for themselves, much like Xerox leadership of the past. The only difference is they aren’t going to pass the torch to the next CEO flavor of the month. They are going to dump Xerox and take the cash.

WHAT A BUNCH OF CROCK! When did the Xerox Communications and PR teams have to write on a employer ranking website promoting the inept C-suite? This made me laugh out loud and shake my head. Should I expect to see the same verbiage on Glassdoor and other websites?

This is actually not entirely wrong. I think some of the changes were long overdue and a efficient company with fewer management positions is the right thing to do. I wish there was they would hire just a plain old service technician and elevate him to a position where his voice could be heard and actually make changes based upon real word experience and common sense., Maybe that is the next step. There certainly are some loyal and hard working employees here who are far more intelligent than some of the a– kissers they have(had) in key roles.
