Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Very poor targeting of employees

I was shocked when I heard about some very good employees being cut. What's going on, Dell? How will the company re-cultivate such employees in the future? Why is the company deliberately choosing mediocrity over excellence?

This is VP led, I had asked for a voluntary redundancy for a few years and was told that the VP did not approve.

This has to be manager led. I am the most expensive rep on my team and have asked for redundancy 3 times and the business refuse to give it to me.

I can say pre-sales (PCoE) . Top performer, top experience. It didn't matter, WFR and bye bye

I wonder if anyone in the nextgen team has been impacted. I mean the su-kers do naff all and get away with it. I can name a good few that can go. They are useless anyway but my best bet is that they won't be affected. Brownose sc-ms

@opi+1nZKVHEC it's not random. Most expensive reps will be cut first as there's target for lowering OpEx.

It’s no secret a lot of those connected stay at Dell, if you know someone they spare you during these times

I was top in my org and team every quarter the last year. Haven’t missed my number ever, even in hard quarters I figured it out. I got cut. I don’t think there’s any reasoning this time. I’m convinced they put all of us in a number generator and we were the lucky winners.

@pfy+1nZKVHEC I was part of the WFH in February and had never been on a PIP and hadn't missed quota attainment in almost 5 years. My SCORE had me at 134% for the half and I got sent packing while other members on my team hadn't hit in almost a year stuck around. Literally thought the 1x1 was about the promotion I had been discussing with management the last two months.

Layoffs when it's a publicly traded company don't care about identifying low performers. Getting rid of low performers means numerous HR meetings over months with management and opening up potential lawsuits. Much easier to reduce it to a spreadsheet number based pay/promote-ability, etc.

Same concern here. In February in multiple organizations I witnessed the SMEs hit by WFR as the quiet quiters kept their jobs. It was a mess for a little while afterwards until the less knowledgeable could find another source or learn themselves.
