Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What has Intel done right in the last 20 years?

I guess their mobile GPU tech is OK. But it seems like their innovation stalled in the late 90s/early 2000's. Perhaps some Atom cores for low power?

I think the canary in the mine shaft was Jim Keller giving up. He could help save AMD but not a massive Intel with more people and money?

Prob by getting rid of all the dead weight this last layoff. They should've do 35% cuts every couple years for the last 20 years.

BK’s record: DEI hiring. Charging bowls. Drone displays. Having s-x with subordinates

I just bought a Lenovo laptop with an AMD processor. Runs Windows 11 fine. Laptops and their CPUs are commodities. I could justify the Intel premium.

the ssds were pretty good before intel sold that off to sk hynix. not necessarily a huge profit center but a high quality product.

firing MR was pretty good, albeit done too late.

that’s all i got for the last ten years. going back 20 you can find a few more wins, including some cpu generations.

@phc - Intel is the worlds leader in VR (Virtual Reality). All achievements are in PowerPoint. No need to do deliver anything in real life. All in the land of make believe - always on track, all green, OKR's met and arrows pointing to the right and rising forever.

@phc - spot on! Other companies bust their a-s and break sweat to actually achieve things.. Intel has perfected the fine art of having all their greatest achievements and wonders done right in PowerPoint!

Singlehandedly provided the greatest leap in the usage and creativity of Microsoft PowerPoint. No other company in Silicon Valley or anywhere else comes close.

Intel makes good Wifi cards, that's about it.

Not even sure about that. They had some IPv6 checksum problem last time I tried to get IPv6 working at home.
