WFH reduces job security

Be careful what you wish for. When you demonstrate that your job can be done from anywhere in the world it becomes a problem. Your competition is now global and there are many candidates willing to do your job from where they are living at a much lower salary.

Not sure why this post was downvoted, @dgf+1iGoks5x is 100% correct.

Outsourcing jobs globally isn’t as easy as it sounds. With most “knowledge work” jobs there are a LOT of small cultural nuances involved that don’t translate well. I learnt this years ago at another company when we attempted to outsource some work to India. “It’ll be much cheaper”, management thought. Initially it was cheaper but the work product we received was substandard. Our Indian vendor had smart employees but those employees had zero ability to “think outside the box”. They worked almost like you’d expect robots to work. If there was ever even the smallest nuance or deviation needed from written specs they couldn’t problem solve to arrive at a solution.

Outsourcing is fine when you’re trying to make widgets. For the type of work most of us perform however outsourcing is much, much more challenging.

Nice try Mo. The future of work is remote. It will never again make sense to drive into a sterile building to do a job that can be done remotely.

If one demonstrates that they themselves can do the work from anywhere, they're demonstrating that they trustworthy AND competent. Smart businesses know the value of a highly talented and responsible workforce. Those seeking to pay the lowest rate often learn the painful lesson that you'll get what you pay for.

If you open up the market geographically, you'll get more diverse ideas and talent - your company is better off and workforce is better synergystically.

Or, you can be paranoid and hope that nothing ever changes, because yeah, who would ever want progress? :-)

Sounds like you just aren’t that talented. Don’t project on others.
