Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Anyone have an unscheduled 1-1 today?

Looks like I'm safe this week.

@hqh+1r6rJ38t, no, you wouldn't.

You will not likely SEE human resources on the invite. They purposely send a SEPERATE invite to the HR rep, so you won't actually see that person invited.

MD says we're all Dell family though.

@1ddc+1r6rJ38t They never will. After the bottom-10% style stack rank WFRs have run their course, these WFR decisions at the individual person level are made by people who have never met the person's MANAGER, much less the person. It's layoff by spreadsheet, you get matched due to a complete black-box algorithm provided by McKinsey or the like. The executives who manage this are the kinds that are never fired themselves, they're always "leaving the company for new opportunities", riding golden parachutes for the next place they will do the same thing in until they die or retire.

They will never know what it is to live paycheck to paycheck, and to even get to be this kind of tier of corporate executive, you must possess some level of sociopathy or narcissism. There are no ethical billionaires.

You will not see HR in your invite. They get the same link on a separate invite. You will only see once you koine that there is another person on the call.

subject of email is different in each site due to different HR, it’s usually your BU’s HR rep, not “HR” par say.

Just pray that your boss and whoever else agreed that you are the "right " candidate for layoff, experiences your pain a 1000 times more and no one in the world helps them.

The subject line on my 1x1 (and others in my dept.) was not Business Update. They must know people are onto that. It was a reference to an actual work issue.

No HR invited on my layoff zoom. It was a quick "difficult conversation" and all HR paperwork emailed to me afterwards.

So would I see the HR in invite section later? Or that doesn't happen?

HR is invited in a separate email. Subject usually says „Business update“

@qce+1r6rJ38t, yes, HR is necessary, but they can be invited after the initial invitation.

what happens if you don't join?

What you need to look out for is an unscheduled 1:1 with HR invited and a note from your manager telling you to make sure you join
