Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Our VPs: the real problem

How many VPs do we have that just coast and take the paycheck and act like they’re moving the needle? Probably a lot!

Sadly our culture of being pirates has given way to politicians who come in or go up the ranks without any idea of what our business is or how to actually grow it

They are making cash and figuring out weekend plans is way more important than us or making any move that might get them fired

These VPs need to retire or get fired asap

SF, Atlanta both offices should be closed. Close NY office as well.

Few groups in GT should be disbanded also

Nike needs to cull the SF office. The tech VPs out of that office are the root of SO MANY PROBLEMS!! 30+ people just lost their livelihood to save the company 5mil. how much is that absolute waste of an office costing us?

Lol at the bitterness and resentment re "DEI hires" - yes that's a thing, but why not keep the same energy when a white dude is promoted? Where's the skepticism about their competence/merit? Not defending DEI hires btw - merely pointing out that plenty of mediocre white dudes get ahead due to their gender/skin color too. Tokenism works both ways and it's gross every time.

@qve when Nike fires or lays off VP’s those spots are now often refilled with other people who have the “correct” skin color, gender or ethnic background. Wish I could say I was only being cynical but I’ve personally seen it happen at least four times. Obviously it’s illegal to promote or hire based on physical characteristics like that but it’s 99.9% impossible to prove that was a factor. It’s not at all suspicious when less than 20% of the local population consists of POC but about 2/3’s of new VP’s are POC.

“Positive racism” is still racism and creates even more race-related ill will. A concept the DEI crowd fails to understand.

I was laid off in 2020 after 24 years. I went through at least 4 “re orgs” during my tenure. Every time they would get rid of vp’s and directors. Then they would hire new ones plus more. The way you can tell is how many reserved parking spots there are.
