Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Any info on Work From Home?

Has the union been able to get a deal that benefits everyone with work from home? My local says it’s dependent on New York. Also, please give serious responses this time, I don’t feel like having to sift through all the anti union or anti company garbage.

Remember this when Verizon saves a ton of money and reduces outsourcing and hires more.

Remember this when you are "working from home" while shipped outta town with no overtime. Be careful what you wish for.

Bucket truck warriors can't work from home even though they say they can.

The union wants us back in an ofc b/c it benefits them! When we keep Wrkng FH the stewards hv NOTHING to do. This threatens them b/c they WILL b required to go back to what their positions requires them to do. [Be it back to being or rep, or whatever]
The same way the company downsized their Team Leaders/Mngmnt, it can definitely hppn to these stewards == & they KNOW this!

One thing is for sure, it’s going for another month. Pretty surprised, I thought we’d be going back.

It's been a long time since most could hide behind c0vid.
If you get it, there's an 80% chance you will be completely asymptomatic.
It has a 99.95% survival rate. With the highest deaths among the oldest people.
The younger the person, the better your chances are.
If you take the vaccine, you'll be reliant on it.
If you are naturally exposed to the virus, and are one of the 99.95%, you'll develop natural defenses on your own.
We've known this very early on.

The vaccine works, # infected is dropping dramatically except where there's high % of folks who are not vaccinated. Company can mandate that you need to be vaccinated to go back to work. VZ has power now to do whatever they see as best for the company, whether it's saving on bldg costs by having folks work from home or if it's more beneficial to have them in office. Can't hide behind covid anymore.

Comments keep getting deleted from this. I’m thinking the union is negotiating on behalf of its members. The common thing being said is it being permanent and a contract extension.

Our Union leadership has advised that the Company and Union may not renegotiate terms of the contract until it is up in 2023. The only reason that they have work from home is due to a "Health and Safety" clause in the contract. Once the CDC allows for return to office, the company will follow suit. I have been involved in several Return To Office (RTO) conference calls for the call center associates. CURRENTLY, the company plans to give 30-45 day notice and return workers to the office in 10% shifts per week until everyone is back. If both sides want to renegotiate, they will have to do so in 2023.

@vll+1b5HhiBS You didn’t read the previous comment. The company is offering it!!! The union is fighting against it! Meaning the COMPANY wants to give the payout!!! The union wants to go to an office.

What I’ve heard from a couple of stewards is it comes down to money/reps per office. The company wants it because of the money savings, are willing to give an extension on the contract for it, and a one time cash payment for a home office setup. I think In the end the union will agree to work from home
