Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Do layoffs really take place every single Tuesday after payday?

I've been following this board for a few months, and that seems to be true so far, but I'm not sure if it's a recent trend or something that's been happening for a while and is already well-known. I've been with Wells Fargo since the start of the year, and I really wish I had known about this before I joined.

The end goal is defined, they just aren't telling us. All evidence suggests it's the extermination of nearly all current domestic/internal WF roles. Their long term vision is no more mortgage or branch network, and any necessary US employees being contractors. They want a small core of elites in Hudson Yards lording over a legion of cheap overseas employees so all they have to do is sit back and collect huge pay checks while essentially leading nothing. Surrogate leaders in India will do the actual 'people leading'.

That's their dream. A WF without YOU. Prepare accordingly.

@mtp+1vfCoZ8q I don't like being called a fool. No one does. Then you say "Hopefully you were laid off." Now these two statements point strongly to you being a bully. What does it matter? I may be a new HR manager... or a McKinsey consultant.

Regardless you repeat what I was saying:
there are layoffs every other Tuesday ("the majority...")with the rare holiday and organizational requirement not to("random") There are also layoffs ad hoc on other days. ("random")
But let's continue. There is no end to this layoff/efficiency program. CitiBank's efficiency program had a beginning and an end. This bank's program's end goals are not defined. All this leads to evidence that this bank has not learned how to ethically deploy a layoff program.

I've always noticed our layoffs were on the 3rd Thursday of each month. I'm so over this place with their threats, favoritism & BS. Managers with their cliques and covering for the colon checker when she does what she wants and doesn't follow the rules! I was actually told to express my concerns about another co-worker in an email to my Mgr & two weeks later she acts as though we never had a conversation about it at all! Only hanging around to receive what's rightfully mine. Then I'm outta here!

"Yes. It’s been going on since 2021 at least. How could you not know?"

Prolly 'cause it gets asked here EVERY stinkin' week!

@rdv+1vfCoZ8q Hopefully you were laid off. You contradict yourself. “It is random “ “a majority are laid off on Tuesdays”. I’m glad you opened your mouth and removed all doubt, before we merely thought you were a fool. Now we know for sure you are one.

As previously stated, there are layoffs every other Tuesday with the rare holiday and organizational requirement not to. There are also layoffs ad hoc on other days.

I was a casualty of the Tuesday after. It really sets the emotional roller coaster off, wondering if you’re next. I think the C-suite has set it up like this on purpose. And it doesn’t just happen to the folks in Non Hub locations. Try to learn as much as you can as fast as you can. And just keep your eyes open for other jobs.

The pattern is random. The majority of people get laid off on Tuesday following a payroll -- thus every other Tuesday. People get laid off at any time and for any reason.
If you have less than 3 years at this bank I would recommend these actions:
finding a new job asap.
upskilling yourself by learning
Understand what "psychological safety" is. The more you understand this organizational development standard the more you will realize how dystopian this bank is -- first to its customers ("account scandal") and now to its employees (efficiency/location strategy/RTO). This bank is now not the place to start a career with.
HR trolls will down vote this.

There is a lot of bad info posted here, including trolls doing it deliberately and malcontents eager to amplify them.

That being said, Wells is terrible and I can’t imagine choosing to work here at this point.

I'm in a non hub location and have seen several rounds of layoffs.
Tuesdays after payday, without missing a beat.

How would a new hire know. As a new hire I would not sweat what the negative people say behind their anonymous keyboard. Their little downvotes gives them a sense of power. Some even clear their cache to downvote more than once.
