Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

D Day in the UK

So today is the day that we all find out our fate, ie stay, go, move. Good luck to everyone and I hope we all get the outcome we wanted, and if it is not what you wanted just remember that a positive mental attitude will help immensely. Plenty of support out there from other colleagues.

About 30 years ago, your new EMPS president started at Fawley. Ironic how he will oversee the sale now. It’s strictly business, hope you understand.

@rm

Once the UK sale concludes, next is Canada refineries with a potential combo sale with Joliet. If a buyer for Singapore comes along in the interim, it’ll be removed too.

Thanks for feeding the info to the grapevine.

Everyone in HC10 knows WAEM is bullsh-t. Well, everyone in the corporation knows. If we claim to hire smart people, how would we be so naive to not see.

Wonder which site is next.

No voluntary element, Exxon went through a selection program after those who weren't mobile to move away from London were excluded from the future roles.

Those leaving have done OK, those retained will be moved to the new owner of the UK business. Until that happens it's true that WAEM has nil credibility in the UK. Everyone will decide how they view that, but quite possible many will move themselves next year now that the redundancy incentive is now closed.

Commercial people clearly voted with their feet with 80% not willing to relocate to in affluent southern peninsula… a real shame to have such a high loss of talent and knowledge.

Also the whole activity has generated anxiety and lack of trust in WAEM… which market will be next?

Was there a possibility of volunteering for the package?

Package 0.8 months per year service, reduced discount if taking an early pension, all owned shares unlocked and taxes paid.

It's a decent package, best to get out before UK business sale is confirmed very early in 2026.

In a nutshell, what's the damage. Close L'head HO and move to Fawley/lay off people working there?
Re layoffs which organisations are the most impacted?
