Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Morale and Salaries

Morale and salaries are so bad at intel that they have passed the no return point, they are doomed.
Volunteer for the layoff and go find a job with a company that has a future.

I am sure a lot of good talented people left intel and moved to other jobs but opposite is also true.

please check LinkedIn, some of the worst examples of intel politics moved to cushier jobs either on their own or after finally being pushed out from intel. Check amd, nvidia, Facebook, google, msf… and tech finance leaders, the person who managed FPGA and suddenly left due to family reasons (that’s what intel message always say about a person who was fired) and of course top intel diversity beneficiary (don’t want to write her name because the site admin has a tendency to delete messages about her) intel rejects and horrible people. So don’t believe that only the best left intel. Not true.

The same people who did nothing but politics and a-s kissing, talking nonsense non stop at intel, have used LinkedIn, Twitter, etc to promote themselves non stop and moved to greener pastures. My only hope is that they will hopefully ruin our competition.

Politics and cronyism (friends, certain nationality affiliations and family job promos and awards, inviting your friends to take part in key projects and meetings, taking care of wife’s and child’s career etc) have been rampant at intel. Some of the architects and beneficiaries of the system have moved to other tech at leadership levels - fat rats left the ship - but the system is still there. Most of the VPs+ and almost fellows have been promoted based on politics and networks. They in turn hire and support other horrible people, their own kiss-a-s, friends network. All our problems are leadership and HR problems. Results, OKRs are a joke. Everyone knows accomplishments and results do not get you a promo, kissing a-s does.

With CP as the head now, horrible HR is adding more problems to the existing morale. As if overhiring and mismanaged firings are not enough, Now, they are talking about implementing new job codes (intel hr is rearchitecting jobs - God helps us).

And on top of it, Pat is running around and arranging new fab locations. So far, we promised investments in Ohio, Oregon, Arizona, Germany, Israel. This is the most bombastic example of overpromising I have seen at intel. You know how all of them ended.

@ryi You are kidding yourself. Deadwood it rooted and standing in place. The only people leaving are ones who know they can get jobs elsewhere. It’s the opposite of what you think should happen.

Develop activities and projects with people who actually want to get things done and have clear goals instead of sitting around waiting to be ‘promoted’ and running the same endless meetings to nowhere. This has been my strategy and now I’m earning my Intel salary working from one third to half of the time.

Once the deadwood (I mean volunteers) all leave, the future will look much better.
