Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Pseudo diversity champions/initiatives

In the name of diversity and inclusion, multiple white males are building their career. Only talk diversity, who cares about action. Even they make moves at the cost of diverse candidates. But, they get richly rewarded for shouting diversity slogan at the same time.

In reality, diverse candidates suffer in job posting, promotion, and ranking consistently with respect to an equally qualified white male. Diversity and inclusion require a change in a mental framework and attitude, backed by actions, not slogan, as currently at Chevron.

The images of the current and former VP of drilling with gender specific labels on workplace really annoyed me. If you have spent any time with both of them, they definitely got the labels mixed up.

Ok, boomer.

D&I is useless but it's not some big global conspiracy. It's a typical fad movement that some tech companies started so other big corporations want to copy it to appear "woke".

I’ve worked with quite a few of them, all with the same approach. In meetings they mention a book that they are reading (something like The Art of War on steroids) and leave the audience with a quote for them to reflect on. They post it in WPL to get official likes while leaving the book fully visible in their office for anybody to see. Now, when it comes to fix a project, they blame it on the culture while staying away from the technical discussions.

Masters of disguise. Next time you run into one, don’t feed them!

Tired of all the D&I bull stuff. Some high level manager must have got caught being really naughty to make this such a big deal over such a long time.

I wish we could go back to being beaten over the head about the digital. At least that was somewhat interesting though not very practical in most cases.

@rzp, Exactly what you said, “One can only hope that equal opportunity does not become corporate speak for reverse discrimination and an imbalance of the scales based on a misguided system of social justice.” —That’s is precisely what’s going on in Chevon and throughout corporate America. It’s the agenda of the New World Order.

Promotion and position should be based on qualifications such as experience, ability, skills, education, performance, business knowledge, leadership qualities, tenure, productivity, etc. Any thing other than that is discrimination and furthering of a social agenda to serve appearances. Yes, I agree that some leaders are pushing a diversity agenda for the sole purpose of bragging rights and desired praise on the basis of their perceived equality and fairness. This will not drive success for our organization but rather only increases discontent. Let the best person for the job succeed regardless of race, s-x, nationality, background or any other personal characteristic they may possess. True opportunity is earned by the candidate adequately preparing him/herself for the role and it should be recognized and rewarded in a fair and just manner so that the most competent gains the role. One can only hope that equal opportunity does not become corporate speak for reverse discrimination and a imbalance of the scales based on a misguided system of social justice.

what rock did you crawl out from under. if you look at the promotions over the last 2 years, you will see that the ratio is disproportionate with most going to white women, followed by minorities as a whole and at the bottom, white men. the numbers don't lie.
