Talk to an attorney about an age discrimination lawsuit.
Nobody deserves to be cut from a job after 28 years, without some type of cause.
This my be political.

OP made it sound like they were just fired and shown the door with no payoff.

@ypa+1jbXtU6C - actually no. Never saw a termination of one employee without some sort of "cause".
RIFs of entire teams and locations - yes, plenty of those.
But not one person. Except when their manager just does not like them for some reason and they can gin up some "cause."
Otherwise, they'd be opening themselves up for a Wrongful Termination lawsuit.
Unfortunately happens too often. Seen it many times. Getting rid of experienced people and keeping the less experienced ones that like to talk a lot with no substance.
You’ve never heard of anything like this? Are you sure you’ve worked for BOA 35 years? In my 24 years, I’ve seen this annually pre-pandemic. In fact, the month before the world shutdown in 2020, I watched BOA do just that to someone with roughly the same amount of time 26-28 years.
BoA is trending right now for shutting down the accounts of conservative newscasters.
Watch for more layoffs to come if they do not reverse course.

Sorry to hear, but just you? No one else in your group? Any idea what might have provoked the termination?
Any severance? like at least pay thru end of the month? insurance thru end of year?
Sounds like they were pretty certain as to cause and not concerned about any repercussions... Been here 35 years and never heard of something like this unless they had a real cause. (have seen that many times)
