Do we think it’s a coincidence that AirDrop on all Apple laptops is turned off? Maybe no sending files to personal devices? Super suspicious timing and giving Big Brother energy

There is a way to re-enable airdrop.
Also icloud backups stopping soon. Part of the next change.
It is a coincidence. Design is complaining about it and they explained why they need it for work, so now they’re trying to address it. Sounds like a bureaucratic issue at this point.
There's no conspiracy theory here. It was already against policy to use it.
I’d probably just take a picture w my phone if I were that concerned
It's annoying, but it should have been turned off years ago. That said, I wish there were a way to keep it on for INBOUND transfers (eg. I have a pic on my phone I want to use/share at work) while blocking OUTBOUND (eg. sending company secrets somewhere else) but I don't think the OS has that capability.
@soc+1raDTAD7 It won’t. Nike can see if you plugged in a USB and will check your laptop and find out when you send it back. It can create a legal nightmare.
Ask me how I know.
Happened last Tuesday
Someone just wokeup.
It’s against policy to transfer files off of company devices anyways, why do you need it?
Its stupid to turn off airdrop, because people will find creative ways under stress of not being able to transfer their data and some of them might open up bigger security holes.
Turning airdrop off is fairly standard security practice for corporations right now. It’s annoying AF and doesn’t prevent people from transferring personal files, ahem… email.
Could be connected, but it could also just be them realizing other companies do it.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence. Saw slacks last week that airdrop was getting disabled and thought it was a strong indicator layoffs were close
