Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Reason for asking WFH?

I'm a fresher and Just wondering what could be the reason for asking employees to WFH.. is it because to avoid emotional incidents or thinking of others(who are not laid off) might get distracted or to avoid any physical incidents? ( i heard in one company that laid off employee smacked his manager after being told laid off news).

A month ago there was a mandatory training on how to respond to a coworker shooting up the place.

(Run, hide, fight only if necessary)

This is all part a of a textbook wall street layoff.

Being in the office the last one was terrible. Watching people get told and then having to turn in all equipment and leave. I am glad they are telling us to work from home.

If laid off, at least let me do it over zoom. Being here in 2017 when being in office was required 5 days a week... it was awful. People who say they want to do it in person is insane. Nothing like a HR coming by your desk telling you to come with them and have your conversation in front of two people and having people WALK by the room seeing you get laid off.

After you have your conversation you have a choice, literally leave your stuff there, go back to get your stuff (with security) or have someone go get it. All are absolutely humiliating.

At least at home, I can process it myself, go for a walk and technically avoid others.

Yeah... give me zoom any day of the week.

It’s so much better over zoom. You have the space to process your feelings after and don’t have to be walked out infront of peers.

I guarantee that most of these zoom calls will be with video off. So do the same with no audio.

It’s cold and impersonal over Zoom but better than having security escort you out of the building.

Because they don’t have the guts to do it face to face. Wimps. Also fear of emotional reactions, violence, shooting, stabbing etc

it is way better to fire someone remotely than in person. They are cowards and this is not the way to treat employees. This excuse is complete BS!!!

It is in Mugha's email, not Johns. If you aren't in Mugha's org you wouldn't have received it.

Asking such a d-mb question should add you to the layoff list. What’s your employee number OP?

So I have read JD’s email over and over and over. Am I missing something that says we are supposed to be working from home during this time?
