Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Saddened

As an employee of 27 years I am saddened by the way this company has been ran for the past 15 years or so. What once was a decent company, and one I was proud to say I worked for, I am now embarrassed to admit who my employer is, when asked. Witty sure has made a mess of UHC due to pure greed. Employees got nothing but tiny raises and tiny bonuses and expensive health insurance. I ask that all higher management, please look at morale. we need to bring back this company to a health insurance company that is trustworthy, dependable and reliable.

@tm that may how you feel now, but in the past people didn’t feel like that. You stayed and grew and learned and moved within the company. There was no coming off the street and being hired as a grade 25 or higher, ( using this as an example). You started at the bottom and learned the basics. Everyone did.

@OP staying more than a year here is a bad idea. It harmful to your career if you choose to have one.

To the person who said the people that were laid off were older, bad reviews etc. That comment was pure ignorance on your part. For us that took the VRSP were smart, hard working, great reviews, and down right great employees, trusted advocates, dedicated employees who built great relationships woth Syrayeguc Abe Core providers/hospitals. So I say to you GEN Z… GRiw THE Fu-K UP!

@jd I think they were just trying to make a point as someone had stated that the ones laid off were either elderly, had poor reviews or were lazy.

@hf Not sure why you are making age remarks. The leaders of this country and also our very own CEO are senior citizens.

@g3 The people that were laid off were not lazy nor were they not trying. Most of the people that were laid off were the best of the best that had been with the company many years and was probably making the most in their field. I also do not believe you are a shareholder for making such an uneducated remark.

@bj as a shareholder who has lost half a million. I don’t want to anyone hard working lose their jobs. But if you’re lazy and not trying I have no sympathy for you if you get laid off.

@ce Amen… I got a teeny tiny RRP, and the most embarrassing merit proportion .20 cents- my manager didn’t get anything and was RIF’d about a month later. Now we all wait…. picking up where those let go…left off. Thanks for nothing Witty

I’ve been telling people I work for Phillip Morris.

Witty’s failures are Hemsely’s failures. Steve-o approved hiring Witty, so he’s just as responsible for the mess we’re in!

all ceos are absolute pieces of s---. Witty was a special vapid, soul su-king breed. SH is also a piece of s---, don't expect anything to get any better for us because SH needs to make his $60M pay package work for him and the shareholders. The new CFO got $5M equity as a sign on bonus. What did you get last year in equity, raise, or rrp?

@a5 Witty come from a country that offers free and universal healthcare coverage to all. Why they thought he would know what to do here in the states is beyond me. He was greedy made millions (who needs that kind of money anyway) without thinking about the employees that kept the place running and had to deal with the groups on why claims were constantly not being paid. He thought about his own pocket instead of the members and employees.

@a5 when people are corrupt and behind the scenes are hatching plots behind closed doors in order to put profit over care - that’s what getting the company in trouble. Believe when you read that the DOJ has tons of company whistleblowers who were exposing them for the corruption. These cases are not easy for the employees who file them. They take a lot of proof, paper trails . And even with a paper trail UHG will spend millions in lawyer fees to run circles around these investigations. It has nothing to do with if they UHG is guilty. Everyone knows they are. It’s comes down to case law and motions in the end as to who wins and if the JD can get them in front of a jury.

Just come to work and keep collecting that paycheck. Those of us that have been here for more than 20 years are pretty much the minority now and are just going with the flow with all the millennial Gen Z'ers and foreigners that have taken over this company. It's happening everywhere. These people are incompetent and like to think BOT's and automated processes can run healthcare because they are too fixated on AI and doing less work for more pay. Let them sink their own ship. Just show up, don't even worry about going above and beyond because you're going to get the same raise as the person next to you that's NOT making their minimum numbers anyway.

Wasn’t Hemsley executive chairman the entire time Wichmann and Witty were CEOs? I’ve listened to many town halls where leaders talked about being grilled by Hemsley during board meetings/business reviews. Obviously the board felt it necessary to bring him back as CEO. But I don’t think it’s fair to let him off the hook.

Just curious, what specifically did Witty do wrong? What was the company previously doing right? I started under Witty and have never had any knowledge or opinion of anyone at the top, or about the company as a whole. I just do my job and go home, nothing that the executives have done has noticeably affected me at any point
