Ford can't even build a reliable ICE vehicle after 100 years, what makes anyone think they will be able to make EV's any better ? The EVs will be just as bad as their ICE vehicles.
Yeah but, Yeah but EVs!!! The ICE vehicles will be gone and obsolete by next month!

What is it with Ford ? all they do is manufacture defect laden crxp vehicles and everyone is wondering why 8,000 people are getting the axe ?

It wasn't even an aluminum Super Duty roof. The newer diesels and EVs are such heavy trucks they would probably need a significant roll bar to resolve this. The tire that blew must have been old or they would be going after them also. Lawsuits that big on twenty year old vehicles that could have a lot wrong could be hard on vendors that did not file bankruptcy and toss all that old liability.
This is a baloney frivolous case if I've ever seen, relative to the award. Its unfortunate, but freak accidents happen. 1.7 billion?? Come on. These trucks nor any other vehicle sold to the public are not built to nascar crashing standards.
Did these trucks not meet the fed standards of the time they were produced?
$1.7 billion times 5,200,000 trucks with weak roofs is a lot of money.
Good roofs are expensive.
