Why does a company that keeps saying security is important keep replacing tools with open source/freeware?

Open source is fine. The lack of vendor support might be an issue.

I'd trust open source software over fiserv house grown garbage.

Oh that nonsense went on long before the present instance. We had users installing PC-MATIC (made in America) to prevent malware and ransomware. WTF? They should not have had the power to do that, but they did it. That was a Code of Conduct violation on the spot - termination and that happened more than some remember. Po-n on a corporate asset? Yeap. But open source-freeware does not have to be bought, at least in today's culture.
